Subject: sacred Mudcatters
From: GUEST
Date: 14 Jul 01 - 01:12 PM

I was under the impression that certain Mudcatters were to be held sacred, that any criticism of them would be met by the "virtual" knife in the gut from someone in the Mudcat Protection Agency.

I've observed that Mudcatters to be held sacred include Max, Catspaw49, Kat/Katlaughing, Joe Offer, Rick Fielding, etc.

So it is with a great deal of shock that I see Kat/Katlaughing and Joe Offer "virtually pissing" on each other. They really seem to hate each other.

A sad day at Mudcat when you have other Mudcatters having to take sides when two of the sacreds have a feud.

Oh, stuff it.

We value people around here for what they do.

For what they contribute in help, insight, humor, compassion, clarity, and similar values.

If Joe and Kat want to get in a pissing match, let them -- bring on the yardsticks. We'll have to get some kind of device for Kat to compensate for ... vertical constraints imposed by fundamental design decisions, so to speak. Maybe one of those gravity inverter frames for hanging upside down in would do the trick.

To be fair, both contestants should be limited to the horizontal before starting their run.

Now stop disagreeing with me about "thumb F" chords! I'm fucking Sacred!

I have checked my list of sacred souls, and find none of those names listed. However, I find all of them in the list labeled interesting.

Sorry Rick, but are you going by the name of Ashley now? It might be hard to rebuild your fan base with that dramatic of a name change. You might want to just try adding an e.
I agree about Dick's sex life though. Want nothing to do with that!

Ashley M Fielding's new compilation of songs and poetry, Les Oiseaus Sans Les Jewelles : The Lost Art of the French Rennaissance Eunuchs, is sure to strike a chord with even the most jaded student of eunuchial soprano vocalization. Several works of the great Umberto Neuterre are represented in their entirety, notable among them being the Lamente du Pecannes Absente, from which Ashley wrings every possible pathetic note.

Huuummm...if this has any relation to certain other threads, does a sacred Mudcatter look anything at all like a sacred cow? Even from the rear? Do they bumble through the marketplace? Do they make pithy statements about people who are just trying to pith people off? Does a troll look anything at all like Shreck? Does any of this make any sense, and does anyone care one way or the other?

LEJ,

Chansons des Noiseaux Perdus contains several references to this remarkable woman (or, according to sum scholars, femme soi-disante) and her career. What has never been satisfactorily explained, however, is the changes in her style following her first summer in Toronto. It is believed that she was possibly annexed by the charismatically impecunious influences of the academic ecological movement, or the grass-roots musician's community, or perhaps both. In any case all scholars agree that this visit was a turning point in he rlife and stamped her future career with vicissitudes of great magnitude.

Regards,

A

Now, Mick, calm down. We know perfectly wlel that you consider the potato to be a sacred icon, and the Faire One to be an exalted pedastal-worthy object of worship from afar. This just shows that everyone has their own sacred-iliad.

However, I must say this is the first time I have heard about Rick's altar-ego! It was probably wise of him to choose a feminine form for it, since he usually plays by himself, but I have to ask whether Heather knows about Ashley?

I came to the Cat about two years ago, because i've always loved Folk Music, and was told that the Cat would be of interest because of the many threads about the musical forms and artist, past present and future. And to this day that's what I like about the Cat....I don't get involved in any of the controversy and/or argument because that's not why I'm here...Give me some meat and potatoes about The weavers, Odetta, pete Woody, Cisco and so forth, and i'll clean my plate and ask for seconds....give me a chance to listen to you guys and gals sing and talk about our music and i'll sing and talk with the best and worst of you. Everytime a question, philosophy, or the history of the music and its people come up on a thread, we shine and share with each other.....Ideas, philosophies and opinions on anything other than the music is no different that a....holes we all got them...Let's hav e fun like we used to and still can and let the music take us there....One and all and keep the tempo and song going....thanks Frank of Toledo

Why did I know this would be a thread about the mudcat "inner clique" (albeit somehow elevated to a hagiographic clique) started by an anonymous guest?

Inner cliques, sacred and scared Mudcatters, double entendres and other poor uses of french, a frankly wicked use of punctuation and competitions involving quite a lot, it appears, of urine, capos up the kazoo, what the hell's going on here? I'm very comfortably established on the far, far outer clique where I can perambulate around and not comment too much (because you know what happens when one starts to actually post to threads)and where I can think about the questions why do I sing and what is folk music, anyway? Oh, and am I addicted to Mudcat and how would I know if I was? Not to mention blue clicky things.
