Subject: Looking for a limberjack From: Sourdough Date: 14 Jul 01 - 03:13 PM I know I could look this up using Google or some other search engine but then I would get a limberjack with no personal connection. My limberjack whch has kept me company on hundreds of thousands of motorcycle miles got accidentally crushed in my car and now that a proper grieving period has passed, I would like to replace him. Any suggestions? Sourdough |
Subject: RE: Help: Looking for a limberjack From: Mountain Dog Date: 14 Jul 01 - 03:24 PM You might check out the "Foxfire" series of books, edited by Elliot Wigginton and published by Anchor. It's a collection of how-to articles on all sorts of crafts, interviews and down-home wisdom collected from first-hand sources in the Appalachians. Many volumes and I'm pretty sure that one of them has instructions for making your own limberjack. (I can attest with certainty that you'll find detailed instructions on making song-bows and whimmydiddles...) The books are a wonderful and entertaining resource, even if you never do anything more with them than read'em. Good luck |
Subject: RE: Help: Looking for a limberjack From: Amos Date: 14 Jul 01 - 03:24 PM In case you wonder what he is talking about here is a description and a source for limberjacks. This looks like it might answer your mail, Sourdough. Be advised, though, it is NOT digital!! :>) Regards, A |
Subject: RE: Help: Looking for a limberjack From: Bev and Jerry Date: 14 Jul 01 - 03:50 PM Sourdough:
The best source for a new limberjack is your own two hands. But, if you insist on exchanging filthy luchre for one, try Jean's Dulcimer Shop, P.O. Box 8, Highway 32, Cosby, TN, 615-487-5543. They are good folks and deal in mail order. In addition to the standard limberjack, they have dogs, frogs, horses, etc. You can also get the exact same limberjacks from Elderly Instruments blicky. Subject: RE: Help: Looking for a limberjack From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 14 Jul 01 - 04:45 PM I highly recommend the ones from our own Sandy Paton at Folk Legacy Records (Click here). I've had several over the years and they're durable, weighted just right, and very affordable! |
