Sometimes one has so much fun cybering that one forgets about dull old reality. Are there any other Mudcatters in this lovely piece of real estate which only public relations specialists could call the "Inland Empire?" I.e., northwest corner of San Bernardino County??

If you include places west of Mt. San Jacinto in the Inland Empire, then yep!

You don't say what type of music you're interested in but there's "The Ceili House Band" in Redlands. Could be spelled Ceilidh, I'm not sure. You could check with Blandford and Son Scottish Import Shop at 204 Orange St in Redlands and see if they have any flyers for that band.

I was thinking of Washington State, too, particularly Spokane. My dad worked for the Great Northern Railway, and one of the passenger trains that ran along the highline through Glacier and on to Seattle was called the Empire Builder... Check this out -Empire Builder

..."Spokane calls itself "Monarch of the Inland Empire" and lies in the midst of country rich in productive farmlands, lumber and mining. Railroading was responsible for much of the city's early growth. Here the Empire Builder route (the Great Northern route from Seattle) is joined by the Portland route at Spokane. During the night, the train stops at SANDPOINT [Idaho] and LIBBY [Montana]..."

Yeah, Alice, pisses me off...it goes right through my home town of Bonners Ferry...but it does not stop...I have to have some one pick me up in the middle of the night in Sandpoint....and then drop me off in the middle of the night in Sandpoint...instead of just walking to the station...

From just east of you at Sandpoint, I took a train from Paradise to Butte (that lovely ride along the Clark Fork River) thinking I could go all the way back to Helena by rail. When I got to Butte, the conductor said service had been stopped to Helena just a few months before, and I had to race to the bus depot to make the connection. I hate the way the passenger trains have been eliminated here. My dream vacation this year would be to take that Empire Builder through Glacier Park.

Funny thing. I live in the Idaho Panhandle just east of Spokane, but my first thought about "Inland Empire" was of San Berdoo.

I used to spend a lot of time at the Penny University run by Sally and Jim Thomas.In the early 70's alot of the San Bernardino folkies also hung out at the Golden Nuggett Saloon where we excercised our latent tavernism.

That was where I knew Mary McCaslin from, just before she met Jim Ringer (also from the Berdoo area).Listen to her "San Bernardino Waltz".She wrote it about a friend of mine, Larry Blom.

Sean--You hit the nail on the head. Friend of mine says the whole world is a desert, but the rainfall varies. Or, my other favorite quote, "If you like warehouses, you'll love the Inland Empire." Now as for all you squatters sitting in here chatting about God's Country, where I wish I was, well put a sock in it, because I already wish I was in the Pac NW, OK?? BG
