Neighbors, A friend of mine is looking for an album (or a copy if it is out of print) of a recording called "Save the Children". It has an all star cast of Joan Baez, Hedy West, Mimi Farina, Janis Ian, Odetta, The Pennywhistlers, Barbara Dane, Malvina Reynolds, and Buffy St.Marie. Came out on Electra. I was sure that someone on the Cat would know about it. Any ideas??? Thanks, Dan

Dan, I believe the album to which you refer is this one that came out in 1967:

Save The Children: Songs From the Hearts of Women - 1967 - Women Strike for Peace Records W-001

Produced by Judy Collins and Ethel Raim Dunson, May 1967 for Women Strike For Peace - Cover illustration by Kaethe Kollwitz, Mother with Children, 1932

"This record was born out of a great frustration. What can we do as women to save the children, to stop the slaughter? We refuse to accept war with breakfast and atrocities with the evening meal. We ask with this record that you do all within your power to END ALL WARS." --- Judy Collins and Ethel Raim Dunson, May 1967

What Month Was Jesus Born In? - 2:12 (Trad.) - Sung by: Odetta
Money Crop - 1:31 (Malvina Reynolds) - Sung by: Malvina Reynolds
Legend Of A Girl Child Linda - 4:24 (Donovan Leitch) - Sung by: Joan Baez, Judy Collins, Mimi Fariña with Russ Savakus on bass and Bruce Langhorne on guitar Re-released on Joan Baez "Rare, Live and Classic" Vanguard VCD3-125/27, disk 2, track 3 (1993)
Universal Soldier - 2:14 (Buffy Sainte-Marie) - Sung by: Buffy Sainte-Marie with Russ Savakus on bass and Bruce Langhorne on guitar
La Colombe - 7:46 (Jacques Brel, translation Alisdaire Clayre) - Sung by: Judy Collins with Bruce Langhorne on guitar
To My Countrymen - 1:26 (Bertolt Brecht, translation Eric Bentley) - Read by Viveca Lindfors
Vido, Vido - 2:42 (Maria Kuteva, arr. Philip Kutev) - Sung by The Pennywhistlers
Masters Of War - 3:13 (Bob Dylan) - Sung by Barbara Dane
Janey's Blues - 3:29 (Janis Ian) - Sung by Janis Ian
Pans of Biscuits - 2:34 (Trad.) - Sung by Hedy West - from Vanguard Records VRS 9124
Oh, Had I A Golden Thread - 4:03 (Pete Seeger) - Sung by Joan Baez and Judy Collins with Russ Savakus on bass and Bruce Langhorne on guitar

I have no idea where you might obtain a copy. I had one back when it was new, but haven't seen it in years. I'll take a look through my vinyl again to make sure it isn't there, and, meanwhile this will refresh the thread and maybe jog somone else's memory.

You might try Still Records After All These Years http://www.stillrecords.com. There's a really good store on Quail Street in Albany NY as well. I'll scrounge up the name etc and post it tomorrow.
