WELL folks ....here we are at two in the morning Les from Hull Ickle dorritt and Maggie the Muff, sitting in Brid Widder's sitting room having spent the evening delighting and entertaining the poor travelling folk of the East Riding. Other Mudcatters present were White Dove Willa and Captain Swing. What can we say about the evening we laughed. we cried. we drank real beer -it was crap but it was free. Mostly we sang. The first Hull to Bridlington folk train was an overwhelming success , not the least because the train actually ran on time. Most however were the stunningly beautiful acoustics at Bridlington station, which wass a delightful place to sit and sing in. Furthermore, we all managed to entertain the taxi queue on the way home. Many were rendered helpless with laughter, but that's youth for you. Maggie the Muff was horrified that the young people had not heard of Jeffery Archer as this seriously impacted on her joke telling abilities. Well doen to the organisers, particularly Les who did not dribble once.

I'm young and I've heard of Jeffrey Archer. He's the Tory peer who's also a best selling novelist and he's just got sent to Belmarsh Prison to do four years for perjury and preventing the course of justice. He's actually been reclassified now as a C class prisoner due to more investigations into corruption.

Just an ordinary politician, then! :-))

Brid widder, no wonder you didn't get to Nellie's. You missed meeting Bill Sables and NikNak. Those station acoustics were wonderful, weren't they! Hope we can have another train soon. Well done, Les and Maggie.

You missed a great session at Nellies -not the least was Bill Sables being accompanied by the Red Arrows! What a way to finish a song with a fly past of the royal Airforces finest -we almost broke into the dambusters! I'm goign to lie down now as I am feeling very tired.

And all I have is a weekend arguing with the bratling and a migraine to show for it.....

Why doesn't the train ever come down this line?

sorry about Nellies...I was feeling a bit fragile!! and my son (bless im) reminded me that I'd sung in the garden at 2:00am to entertain the neighbours!I still don't remember that!! EVERYONE should sing in Bridlington Railway Station!! now that would be a brill venue for a Mudcat convention!!!

Thanks to everyone who rallied round with songs and tunes on the train. You lot are great. Having spoken to the organisers since, they were very pleased with the way that everything went, and there should be other folk trains in the future.
