Subject: Carter Family Tribute From: Bluebelle Date: 13 Aug 01 - 10:11 PM In the Bill MONroe thread, Guest,ChrisJ asked if there was any tribute to the Carter Family. There is. The Carter Family Fold is located in Hiltons, Virginia, and every Saturday night there is live acoustic old-time country bluegrass music. The groups range from The Wolff Bros. Old-Time String Band to Wayne Henderson & Friends to The Larkin Family. In front of the stage is a concrete floor and, as soon as, the music starts, the cloggers are on the floor in scads. The venue is huge and admission cheap at $4 for adults, $1 for children 6-11, children under 6 are free. Saturday shows begin at 7:30 p.m. yearround and the museum is open at 6:00 p.m. Saturdays. Admission to the museum is 50 cents. It is hosted by Jeannette and Joe Carter, children of A.P. and Sara, and it's not all that unusual for Johnny Cash or June Carter Cash to stop in for a visit. Check out the website for more detailed information. http://www.scarlet.org/carter/index.html |
