Subject: Old And In The Way From: Brian Pierce Date: 25 Jan 98 - 10:40 AM I am looking for analysis and tabulature of Banjo, Guitar, Fiddle, Bass, Vocal arrangements parts from Old and In the Way's three releases. I am currently with an informal bluegrass group that is playing a large number of songs from their recordings. Any comments, Tips, web sites and or opinions on their "bluegrass" style is welcome.

Subject: RE: Old And In The Way From: Ralph Butts Date: 25 Jan 98 - 11:21 AM Hi, Brian..... About the style, 'nuff said. Also, there's something of a mysterious quality - probably due to the short stints the group(s) did. Jerry's death only adds to the image. There's a good article about Grisman in the Jan. issue of Acoustic Guitar, but this band is not mentioned. Good luck with your group, I envy you.......Tiger |

Subject: RE: Old And In The Way From: Date: 02 Feb 98 - 12:26 PM Brian, I know the chords to some of the tunes off the Old and In the Way Cd. Maybe you know them, and you're just looking for more in depth notation. However, if you want the chords to the songs, just list them, and I'll let you know if I can help you out. Subject: RE: Old And In The Way From: bp Date: 04 Feb 98 - 09:25 PM I've been able to figure out the chords to the songs. I was hoping that someone would be able to tell me to get banjo tabs of Garcia's banjo parts. I am hoping that someone has done the hard work of converting Old and In the Way to Banjo tabs. Thanks for the thought! bp |

Subject: RE: Old And In The Way From: Terry in San Diego--tah@cts.com Date: 20 Feb 98 - 01:38 AM Fiddle virtuosos might find useful Matt Glaser's Vassar Clements fiddle book. It's in standard notation, not tab, but has exact transcriptions of Vassar's "Pig in a Pen", "Lonesome Fiddle Blues", "Kissimee Kid" off the original Old and in the Way album. |
