Subject: RMFTT? From: GUEST,Roger the skiffler Date: 31 Aug 01 - 04:14 AM In the '60s and '70s when I went to Spinners concerts (now you know I'm not a real folkie!), Mick and Hughie had some initials on their guitars which I think were RMFTT (looked at an LP sleeve last night but they're not clear). Does anyone know what the significance was? A slogan, abbreviation for an organisation, or what? I know Hughie has been on the Mudcat and has some other contacts here so I have high hopes. I'm off to Greece again (Tilos this time, so probably no singing) for the next 2 weeks so I'll expect this thread to have reached 100 by the time I return! RtS |

Subject: RE: Help: RMFTT? From: GUEST,Roger the skiffler Date: 21 Sep 01 - 03:54 AM 6 posts, that's 5 more than when I asked the same question in 1999 but still no further forward. The webmaster of the Spinners site doesn't know either and I don't want to join another forum just to find one bit of info. Well, Mudcatters you disappoint me! Subject: RE: Help: RMFTT? From: GUEST,Eric Date: 21 Sep 01 - 02:52 PM I asked Mick [it was on his guitar] backstage at a concert in Leicester [so it must have been 69 to 72 when I was at Leicester Poly]. It is ROMFT and whippet is correct - I believe Mick was in the Navy at some time my brother the submariner also confirmed the meaning when he was old enough to join up. |
