From The Wiscasset Newspaper, August 23, 2001:

"William "Bill"Bonyon, 90, folklorist, teacher, writer, singer, and author, died Monday, August 13, 2001. He was a pioneer of the concept of folk songs as living history, and for almost two generations he sang them in the classrooms and concert halls of America."

Wickford Express pays homage to the memory of this fine and gentle man who taught us the value of bringing historic music to school children in an entertaining and accessible format. Thanks, Bill, for being the wonderful person you were - you will be missed.

Cindy Peloquin Wickford Express

Thanks, Cindy. A search will turn up at least two threads here with memories from people here who knew and respected him.

Thanks Cindy, for doing this. As Sinsull says there are two threads already for Bill but one more cannot hurt. He was a great human being and will be sorely missed. I used to run into him at fairs and concerts here locally and he was always talking with the people he would meet as he walked. He knew everyone and loved us all. We will truly miss him.

And there are more details about the Memorial Service for Bill being planned for Sunday, September 16, in Bath at the Chocolate Church.
