I completely disagree... please think more carefully before you post... It's this kind of rash opinionating and flaming that causes all the trouble..

Cheers

Steven

I'm going to have to waffle on this one. I can see both positive ad negative sides to this, so,maybe.

I couldn't disagree more Rangeroger. There's only one opinion. If you're not with me you're against me. So there ! Martin IS Americas guitar.

Is this a password? A cleverly disguised code word? Is this the secret handshake? How come I'm never invited to join? Surely this is the codename for the inner mudcat clique? Harrumph.

Kendell - I hope you know that I was paraphrasing Martins own advertisments. I've known and loved some Gibsons and Guilds in my time. Of course my preference is for Marins. I've played more Martins that I've loved than any other brand. Just my .02 cents worth.

C'mon fellers! This thread is about "air" guitars. And I loved a Gibson once too! Judy Gibson. Man, she had the , oops, never mind.

Would that be a Cheech MARIN you got there Wes? I always liked the "Tommy Chong" models myself, like the one with the chpome neck and the rearview mirror he used in "Next Movie."

No - It's a CHEAP Martin. $250.00 for a '67 D-18.

to me a martin is not god's gift to guitar players, it's a good guitar for bluegrass and that's about it . and that's all i have to say about that.bob

Martin Guitars are C.F. Martin's gift to music. A durned nice gift it was too!

I don't own one but I've heard some really nice ones!

gigsons, takamine's, taylors, all sound sooo much better so go out and try one of those before before you make up your mind. bob.

I have tried them all. And I keep trying them. Even the gigsons. I play a Martin because it was the best I could find for what I wanted to play. It's all a mater of taste. There is no right or wrong viewpoint.

Mudlark

How was that for getting back on subject

53

I have a gigson and a Seagull, I would trade neither for the martins I have heard. Never the less the Martins are nice guitars for folk, country and gospel as well as bluegrass.

Excellent....a quick retrieve....

I have a martin 016 that I love...I do play mostly folk music, but have been branching out into Fats Waller and 20's-40's stuff and it sounds pretty good to me (the guitar that is....my playing leaves much to be desired.) I resisted steel strings for a long time, fearing they would be too brassy for 200 yr old ballads...but this Martin, while bright, is very mellow....

Talking of cheap guitars, I bought a $1500 Gibson once for $140. Trouble was, it had an extra hole in the top
