Has any one got the words for "Slip Jigs and Reels." I think it was done by Steve Tilson.

"I didn't like the ladies, the rise and the fall of their their ankles and dresses all on the dance floor."

Gillie

A great song. Done well by Finn MacGinty with Dale Russ on their CD SETANTA.

I heard it done by the author, Steve Tilson at Old Songs Fest. & was floored, can't imagine it any better than that, I even spotted my daughter (who's not a fan of folk music) with her ears perked up. Barry

Bellamys version is on 'Wake the Vaulted Echoes' on the free reed label. email neil_wayne@freedmus.demon.co.uk or trywww.welcome.to/folkmusic the c.d. is frtcd14. There's masses of other good stuff there too.(sorry, no good at blue clicky things, can't cook either.)

Steve Tilson didn't seem to think Bellamy 'murdered it' still I suppose it's a matter of taste.

Sorry to take so long getting back but Ned has done the job for me. 'Tis indeed a great CD with a snazzy little CD-ROM extra. Enjoy it...Harry.

P.B. was/is an acquired taste or no taste or a taste for ruining a brilliantly composed ballad but then some folk are too polite to be honest.I go with Steve's and fairport's versions way ahead of P.B.'s. love free speech.

I love Peter Bellamy's stuff, but I don't think he did a great version of this song. Especially because I've heard Barry Gleeson's version, which is amazingly good. Unfortunately, I don't expect too many of you will have ever heard BG's Path Across the Ocean CD, which is your loss! Martina

Also well done by Stewart at the Mouse gathering in August. CD's available soon.

Martina

Even ignoring the name .... I agree completely! Barry does a great job on it. In Ireland the only comparable one is to see Luke Cheevers singing it live, and dancing his way through the chorus with the nearest good-looking woman!

Regards
