Does anyone know of any clubs or other venues in Montreal for some great French Canadian music? Any events running in late October/early November?

Well, if you want as French Canadian as it gets: Don't know if they are playing in Montreal any time soon, but Kate and Anna McGarrigle's webpage is at www.mcgarrigles.com and should have info about their upcoming gigs...

It was provided by Mike Regenstreif on Maplepost who has a radio show there. You may want to e-mail him directly (e-mail on the page). It might be a bit too contemporary - it depends how French Canadian you want to get.

Well, I was looking for Montreal, I Found was is going to happen in québec... anyway, if you're around, have a look there: Click Steeve Desjardins, listed on this site, is very good.

Do you have a problem with Loudon Wainwright III and Kelly Joe Phelps playing in Montreal?

I should explain that the events calendar on the Folk Roots/Folk Branches is dependent on information being supplied by venues, presenters and artists. You'll often see French Canadian music on the calendar, often not. The anglo-media is often ignored by *some* of the francophone venues, presenters and artists. I can't post information I don't have.

I would also note that the calendar is not an all-inclusive listing. It is a guide intended for listeners of Folk Roots/Folk Branches. Not all events submitted are included, they have to have some connection to what gets played on Folk Roots/Folk Branches.

Mike, my problem is that they don't come to Québec, and that's gonna cost me a lot!!! Do you plan to have them at your show? (sorry for the thread creep).
