Subject: Listeners advisory From: GUEST,Den Date: 23 Oct 01 - 10:00 AM I work in a library (I'm not a librarian though) and we have a programme here called Readers Advisory. So I'd like to start my own version (sort of) in this post. I really like Steve Earle, Guy Clark and the more folky/country side of Lyle Lovett. I've also been getting into Townes VanZandt but I find much of what I've heard a little dark. Having said that I like what I've heard. I must confess I like the storytellers. That was a big part of my life growing up in N.Ireland. Anyway based on the above information who else should I be listening to. I'm willing to reciprocate information about Irish musicians and groups. Hey this could be a perma-thread idea. Den |
Subject: RE: Listners advisory From: GUEST,Den Date: 23 Oct 01 - 10:02 AM I swear I typed in Listeners but it reverted back to my original miss-spelling. Joe could you fix this...the library would take a very dim view. Den |

Anyway based on the above information who else should I be listening to. Tom Russell. (the late) Jim Ringer. Utah Phillips' earlier stuff - get the Jody Stecher/Kate Brislin "Heart Songs" CD. Ian Tyson (both the old stuff with Sylvia and the recent cowboy stuff). Peter. (That's a signature, not another suggestion.) Peter. |
