MULL OF KINTYRE
(Paul McCartney)

Mull of Kintyre
Mull of Kintyre,
Oh, mist rolling in from the sea,
My desire is always to be here,
Oh, Mull of Kintyre.

Far have I travelled and much I have seen
Dark distant mountains with valleys of green.
Past painted deserts, the sunset's on fire
As he carries me home to the Mull of Kintyre.

Mull of Kintyre,
Oh, mist rolling in from the sea,
My desire is always to be here,
Oh, Mull of Kintyre.

Sweep through the heather like deer in the glen,
Carry me back to the days I knew then.
Nights when we sang like a heavenly choir
Of the life and the times of the Mull of Kintyre.

Mull of Kintyre,
Oh, mist rolling in from the sea,
My desire is always to be here,
Oh, Mull of Kintyre.

Smiles in the sunshine and tears in the rain,
Still take me back where my memories remain.
Flickering embers grow higher and higher
As they carry me back to the Mull of Kintyre.

Mull of Kintyre,
Oh, mist rolling in from the sea,
My desire is always to be here,
Oh, Mull of Kintyre.

Mull of Kintyre,
Mull of Kintyre...

(If Pene beat me again I'm gonna go turn on the TV......) No chords, yet.

Also, the author apparently is Paul MacCartney.

Yes, sorry, forgot to put that in. I guess I thought it copied with the rest of the text.

According to an interview I heard once with Paul Mc Cartney, he wrote MUll Of Kintyre because he realized there had no new music written in recent history for the bagpipes that a younger crowd could identify with.

Sorcha: Pene didn't beat you this time. You can avoid the lobotomy box! Thanks, I'm printing the chords as we speak and I was unaware that Paul McCartney wrote the song. Have a great day, Neil

I Think you'll find it was written in "D", its a waltz, its quite easy to play, a good tune for a new starter.

Thanks for the lyrics, Sorcha.

You can see and hear Paul McCartney (and Wings) do this song here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzs5aOYr8B4

This formatting give a little better idea of how the lyrics fit the 3/4 time measures:

Mull of Kin-/ tyre, Oh, / mist rolling / in from the /
sea. My de-/sire is / always to /be here, Oh, /
Mull of Kin- / tyre.
