Subject: Wolff sightings in Yorkshire From: bill\sables Date: 04 Nov 01 - 05:14 AM It has been reported that there is a small pack of Wolves running riot in Yorkshire. It is many years since the last sighting of wild wolves was made in the ridings, but these are not the European wolf, they seem to be a strain of American wolf who slipped into the country undetected. There are only three reported but more of them may already be on their way. They seem to be an older wolf, recognizable by a red bandana accompanied by two of his cubs. The older wolf plays a mean banjo and can also be heard howling the blues while the cubs seem to be dedicated to drinking the shire dry. They were sighted in Hull on Friday night and again on Saturday in York. It is believed that they are making their way to Beverley for the Sunday afternoon session at Nellies and then to the George and Dragon at West Haddlesey for a Sunday night session with Sam Pirt. We are not sure where they will show up next so keep your eyes open and report any sightings here. Bill |

Subject: RE: Wolff sightings in Yorkshire From: Linda Kelly Date: 04 Nov 01 - 03:35 PM Well -is that man a musician or what!!!!??????Met with Bill and Guy and Wolf Cubs in Nellies and after a brief history and guided tour of the Minster headed back into the session for a good old play and sing. The sound of jaws dropping could be heard as Guy did his thang with guitar and banjo. Everyone practically gave up and just let him have his reign and suddenly every American traditional tune that folks could muster was put on the altar of Guy in the hope that he could do something magical to it -which of course he did. I hope he enjoyed himself as much as we enjoyed his company. We packed him off to yet another session- a bag of Thorntons Special Toffee in his bag in remembrance of a great afternoon,s music. Thankyou Bill for bringing him and Guy you made dozens of friends. |
Subject: RE: Wolff sightings in Yorkshire From: Willa Date: 04 Nov 01 - 05:00 PM What a treat at Nellie's this afternoon! Guy,Ickle,Bill(the bogeymen)/Sables,Oombanjo,white dove- sorry if I've missed anyone out. Didn't get to see the wolf cubs; they were'nt allowed in - hadn't drunk their quota by the time I left(regretfully) at 5pm. |

Subject: RE: Wolff sightings in Yorkshire From: Eric the Viking Date: 05 Nov 01 - 01:56 PM Wonderful is the word, as a human being and a musician-I've known him years though we've only just met. Max should realise what he started with Mudcat (I know he does!) Guy, you rock man. A great evening, wonderful music. Thanks for the gifts, they are treasured. Hope to see you again, very soon. Cheers Eric |
Subject: RE: Wolff sightings in Yorkshire From: bill\sables Date: 06 Nov 01 - 05:44 AM The wolves have escaped. They were last seen heading towards Fountains Abbey but may turn up in Cumbria or Northumbland. They seem to have some sort of interest in old castles. I did hear a rumour that they might visit the site of their Lord and Master, Dracula, in Whitby. All I do know for sure is that they will show up in Manchester on friday morning to fly back to the US. Keep your eyes peeled, and let us know if you see them. Bill |

Subject: RE: Wolff sightings in Yorkshire From: Guy Wolff Date: 09 Nov 01 - 08:06 PM I don't know where to start with my thank you's to Bill and Lorna.. Amagine showing up on someone's door-step at 9 AM cross-eyed having never met and saying " Hello so nice to meet you can I go to sleep now? {X3}. God we had the most wonderfull time !! All the sessions were very inspiring. I have never been to one before so I hoped I did'nt hog to much . The old adrenaline was off the charts.. Max You have got to do this!!!!! It is the best of what the mudcat is about.. The most amazing thing Happened in Ripon after leaving Bill's.. We were Pub crawling (I was trying to follow my sons) but in the second pub this Army of Acordians and Concertinas showed up at about 10:00PM.<><>< LA... the Ripon City Morris Men had a music practice after a dance practice and they let me sit in.. With all those tunes in C and G I understand why MArtin Carthy came up with his tuning!!!! THey were very kind to let me sit in and asked me to stay for another session the next day.. I wish I could have but the boys needed more culture and so on to East Witton for a two days Jovaloux Abby and Middleheim Castle ( Richard the third was it???))) We stayed at the "Covered Bridge". The boys were so happy not to have me driving for awhile.. Last day was in Kendell. I couldnt get them on to the lakes or Castlerigg or Wheatherigg's Pottery. But they put up with the old man for a full week if it is to be amagined so that in itself was great.. Within sight of the airport I backed into a fence only taking out a rear braking lens.I almost didint hurt the car.. I was giving someone a jump sart at the time and a bus was comming at me so I think all in all I did pritty well. Bill , Lorna and all of Yorkshire I will be back!!! This is to much fun not to do more of .Avis said they would be delighted to rent me any car I liked again. Bill we will build you a smoking lounge and wait with bated breath for a visit on this side.. Tons of thank yous for the incredable warm homecoming ( Thats what it realy felt like)) Witby august???? <><><><><><>< Allthe best GUy <><><><>><><>><><><>><><><>>><><><><><><><><><><><>><><><><><><><< |

Subject: RE: Wolff sightings in Yorkshire From: Linda Kelly Date: 10 Nov 01 - 06:31 PM Don't know full details about Dave other than he plays south of the river (Lincolnshire). When I see him next time at Nellies I will ask him if he is internet friendly and if so to contact you. He is very good and is often accompanied by a mean cello player. I'm sure that we can give you a guided tour of the gardens and stately homes of England next trip! |
Subject: RE: Wolff sightings in Yorkshire From: bill\sables Date: 11 Nov 01 - 06:11 AM Guy, the fidler, Dave, plays at the Barton on Humber session with Skipjack, Niknak and Bloke in the corner every Tuesday night. We are all loking forward to your next visit. Are the cubs sober yet? Bill |

Subject: RE: Wolff sightings in Yorkshire From: Guy Wolff Date: 11 Nov 01 - 09:20 PM Bill <>><> I dont think the party is over for the boys. Ben is at band practice tonight. His key-board player's girlfriend has something to do with MTV and is looking for a gig in The Apple Grande. NYC would be an interesting place to play at any age let alone 20. We can not thank you enough for the great time you and Lorna showed us. Linda <><>><> THanks for the offer. I would love to walk some gardens.. Beeing a flowerpot maker I think that trip would adtualy be "Tax Deductable" as we say in the Capitolistic bussy world. Eric , I'm so glad you liked the CD.. I did'nt bring the first one beeing inbarrassed that I had put "Lark in the Morning" on Dulcimer and a vertion of "Country Life" that I could'nt bring to yorkshire for anything.. I did them because I loved them so much but I heard such beautifully strong voices at all three sessions that I was glad for that descition. I do hope to play with you again as soon as I can.. By the way Americans.. US vistitors to THe U.K. are down something like 60% and with the Hoof and Mouth tragity over the summerthey have been double hit!! Any one going over can show our support to the one country that has stood with the US in this wild time..By the way last time I looked an Air ticket on British Air was $320.00 round trip for January. Well my body feels like it's one in the morning so I'm off. All my best regards to everyone here. Yours Guy @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ |
