Subject: RE: Lyr Req: fall on my knees From: Sorcha Date: 18 Nov 01 - 11:20 PM I looked again, and found only a new song by Julian Lennon with those lines. Don't think that is what you are after. (Chord progressions mean nothing to me. I'm a fiddler, grin) Looks to be a fairly standard progression, though. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: fall on my knees From: Joe Offer Date: 19 Nov 01 - 12:00 PM It's kind of a "standard" for old-time and bluegrass bands. You can find a recording here. I have it on a CD from the Freight Hoppers, and I'll work up a transcription in half an hour or so. It was recorded by Red Clay Ramblers, Stecher/Brislin, Camp Creek Boys, Jarrell/Cockerham, and Hogwaller Ramblers. I fall on my knees, Beggin you please Won't you come and stay with me, little girl, Won't you come and stay with me? -Joe Offer- |
Subject: Lyr Add: FALL ON MY KNEES (from Freight Hoppers) From: Joe Offer Date: 19 Nov 01 - 12:20 PM FALL ON MY KNEES (traditional ?) CHORUS I fall on my knees, Beggin you please Come and stay with me, little girl, Won't you come and stay with me? I'm goin down that mine Where the sun don't never shine Goin to skid on that cold ice and snow, little girl Goin to skid on that cold ice and snow CHORUS If I had as many dollars as the sands in the sea, Well, I'd give it all to you to marry me, little girl I'd give it all to you to marry me CHORUS Well, I wish to the Lord that I'd never been born Or died when I was a baby, little girl Or died when I was a baby I never would have kissed your ruby red cheeks Or eaten that salty gravy, little girl Or eaten that salty gravy CHORUS You told me one, you told me two You told me ten thousand lies, little girl You told me ten thousand lies You told me more lies than there's stars in the sky You'll never get to heaven when you die, little girl You'll never get to heaven when you die CHORUS The longest train I ever saw It was ninety-nine coaches long, little girl It was ninety-nine coaches long And the only girl I ever loved She's on that train done gone, little girl She's on that train and gone CHORUS CHORUS Transcribed from Waiting on the Gravy Train, a 1998 Rounder CD by The Freight Hoppers. |
