Subject: Lyr Req: Lots more room & better view of the moon
From: becca
Date: 25 Feb 98 - 08:24 AM

I am looking for a lyrics and tune to a song about making the best of misfortunes. It has a calypso beat, and the chorus goes something like this:

If I lose my job, I'll sleep till noon If my house falls down, I'll have more room And a much better view of the moon

Thanks!

Couldn't say for sure, but it sounds like it could be descended from an old Japanese Haiku by someone named Bashu, if I remember rightly~~same theme anyway

Since my house burned down,
I now own a better view
of the rising moon.

Junior High Literature, don't you know.

Right. Do I get part credit??

Õ I don't know if that is the right accent or not. Go to accessories, then character map, copy the one you want, then paste. I don't even know if this is going to work, never tried before~~trust me, there was an o with a mark over the top at the beginning of this paragraph before I hit the submit button.

We aren't helping becca much, but it does keep it moving so that someone who does know might see it.

Did ya know??

When the HUGE harvest moon of the fall season is just above the horizon, it simply looks to be GIGANTIC!

BUT if ya face away from the moon, bend over and view it looking back between your legs---it won't look big at all!!??!! (And if you're nude when you do this---well, that's a whole other story!)

Art

I have learned that Much Better View of the Moon is a song written by George Wurzbach and Nashville songwriter Karen Taylor-Good.

Brian Doherty and Kevin Evans have made this the title track of their newest recording. Wonderful song. I'll have to ask Kevin for the words.

But the lyrics weren't there. They're one of several groups/acts which have recorded or sung it. Very nice song. Mellow!

A Much Better View of the Moon
George Wurzbach and Karen Taylor-Good
As sung by Kevin Evans & Brian Doherty

I used to walk through this world
cautious and oh-so serious
Till the life I was living
was nearly a near-death experience,
But I changed my story
when I finally saw where I was
wasn't where it was at
And now I'm alive
I let destiny drive,
and I'm stretching out in the back.

If I lose my job, I'll sleep till noon
If the news is bad, I'll watch cartoons
If my house burns down,
I'll have lots more room
And a much better view of the moon.

In the vastness of space,
the ever-expanding universe
We are all puny specks
of galactic dust
down here on mother earth
Now I ain't no creature,
don't know if I'll reach out
but here is some humble advice,
Use your uncommon sense
and you surely will live
an uncommonly sensible life
 <
If you lose your job, sleep till noon
If the news is bad, watch cartoons
If your house burns down,
you'll have lots more room
And a much better view of the moon.

Now I ain't no creature,
don't know if I'll reach out
but here is some humble advice,
Use your uncommon sense
and you surely will live
an uncommonly sensible life

If you lose your job, sleep till noon
If the news is bad, watch cartoons
If your house burns down, you'll have lots more room
And a much better view of the moon.

If you lose your job, sleep till noon
If the news is bad, watch cartoons
If your house burns down, you'll have lots more room
And a much better view of the moon.

If I lose my job, I'm gonna sleep till noon
If the news is bad, I'm gonna watch cartoons
If my house burns down, I'll have lots more room
And a much better view of the moon.

This song is also sung by Hot Soup (Sue Trainor, Christina Muir, and Jennifer Agner) on "Soup Happens," Souper CD #5230, 2000.

Click here to hear a RealPlayer file of this and 2 other songs.

It sounds like they're singing "Now, I ain't no preacher; don't know if I'll reach ya," which makes a bit more sense. And it rhymes, sort of.

Danny Quinn does a great version of this song. If you watch his Utube vid you can probably figure it out.
