No luck with just that. I did find out that there is a Fogo in Newfoundland, and another in Brazil. Any snippets, or other clues?

I'm afraid I don't know the song. I'll see if Dave, the ancient mariner has it in a book set he has of Newfoundland songs. I checked the various Newfoundland song repositories I know.

In case Dave doesn't see the message soon, I did some research, and found a web-site for a group called the

Fogo Island Accordian Group

Perhaps someone from the group might be able to help out.

I was talking to one of the trawler men (80+) in smellies on Sunday. He could not remember it all, but I got this .THE BOY FROM FOGO. My sister Kate goes to church on sunday, she don't go for what she is. She goes to see the boy from fogo, that was fishing down here last year. My sister Kate has a 4Ft waistline, and it stretches out to here, Its all through the boy from Fogo who was fishing down here last year. Probably not in the right order. ANYONE know any more thanks again. OOMBANJO.

Ran into your website by accident...and a good one at that... Talked with Gerald Freake about your inquiry of "the Boy from Fogo"...He's never heard of the song tho it may be a local rendition of "the Fellow From Fortune"....The wording takes the same pattern...

In the meantime,I tried a few of the locals here on Fogo Island and they've never heard of it,tho they will ask around...

Gerald Freake is the manager of the Fogo Island Accordion Group. I also told him about your site here,so perhaps he'll sign as well as I.

'He's never heard of the song tho it may be a local rendition of "the Fellow From Fortune"....The wording takes the same pattern...'

That particular song would be easier to find as "Feller from Fortune."
