Subject: Pete Seeger and Wolf Trap on PBS From: GUEST,BigDaddy Date: 06 Dec 01 - 03:38 AM Does anyone remember a regular (possibly weekly) music show on PBS, circa late sixties, early seventies, hosted by Pete Seeger? Guests included Elizabeth Cotton and the Beers Family. Also a show I believe was called "Live at Wolf Trap," same era? Any idea if these shows are available on video? I also recall a PBS show from that time period featuring Bascom Lamar Lunsford. "American Roots" music, indeed. |

Subject: RE: Help: Pete Seeger and Wolf Trap on PBS From: Rex Date: 06 Dec 01 - 12:07 PM The library can get some of those Rainbow Quest tapes if'n you don't want to buy them. And the PBS show was part of the "American Experience" series. "Bascom Lamar Lunsford, Ballad of a Mountain Man". It's a good'un. Your library should be able to get that too. Handy thing these libraries. Rex |

Subject: RE: Help: Pete Seeger and Wolf Trap on PBS From: catspaw49 Date: 06 Dec 01 - 01:54 PM We've had some other threads on the Rainbow Quest series and like Rex said, a lot of the tapes are available at the library. If you're around a larger city, it should be no problem at all. Check the one with Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee. Spaw |
Subject: RE: Help: Pete Seeger and Wolf Trap on PBS From: GUEST,BigDaddy Date: 07 Dec 01 - 03:30 AM What about the Wolf Trap shows? Were these part of the "American Experience" series as well? When I do a Google search I only get recent Wolf Trap items. |
Subject: RE: Help: Pete Seeger and Wolf Trap on PBS From: Sourdough Date: 08 Dec 01 - 01:00 AM I worked on the Wolf Trap specials for PBS. They were in the seventies, the early ones. Baryshnikof, Martha Graham, and Bubbles Silverman (in Daughter of the Regiment)are the ones that come to mind. It was (is) a great performance space. I don't think they are available comercially because the rights were not cleared in perpetuity. Sourdough |
Subject: RE: Pete Seeger and Wolf Trap on PBS From: GUEST,Kit Date: 05 Apr 10 - 11:36 AM Pete and Arlo in concert at Wolf Trap was great - I've been looking for a video for YEARS. |
Subject: RE: Pete Seeger and Wolf Trap on PBS From: Bettynh Date: 06 Apr 10 - 01:15 AM There's a 1993 concert at Wolftrap with Pete and Arlo here. Click the second playlist. This isn't the PBS special, though. Most of the Rainbow Quests that were published on DVD are on YouTube, too. Only 6 DVDs seem to be available for sale, representing fewer than half of the thirty or so episodes that were originally made. |
