Subject: SESSIONS in Belfast/Crumlin/Antrim area?
From: Ella who is Sooze
Date: 06 Dec 01 - 04:17 AM

Hallo...

I think (well it's the plan at the moment...) that I am going to Belfast for a few days in January to help a friend move over there from Wales. I'm going over on the 3rd of Jan and coming back maybe 3 or 5 days later. We are going to the Crumlin area (ish) and I was wondering if there are any sessions on in that area, regular ones, or anything going on at all.

In between house hunting, shopping in Belfast and nosying around the towns looking for a nice area for them to move to we are looking for a tune or two.

I hope someone can help - even if it's not in the above areas, we are willing to travel about max an hour to get there.

reg

There were Friday night sessions in the Kitchen Bar in Belfast City Centre, but last I heard the whole pub was being moved due to redevelopment. The John Hewitt (in the "Cathedral Quarter" of the city) apparently has music.

There was a thread on this last year, and I'm sure there's listings somewhere online - I'll have a dig around.

And if you fancy going further down the coast at all, my ma and da would be only too happy to give you a bed for the night and point you in the direction of the good pubs!

These guys are based about 3/4 of an hours' drive from Belfast on the southern shores of Lough Neagh, an area known as the Montiaghs, near to Lurgan The Trasna Boys.

check-out the Wexford Bar in Wexford St Wed night. It is old info but some things go for a long time. If I remember right the place is a music-loving pub so could be any night if it is still current.

Hi Derry...

thanks - I think I know one of the fellas in the opening photo... I've always called him Dublin (he's a set dancer and button box player).

Thanks to the rest of you too. Fib - I don't know if I'll have time to go down to your ma n pa. But thanks all the same. It's a good idea and would be nice to see them.

But I'm going to get into trouble as well - as ONCE again, Ireland and not going to see the rellys in Derry! Oops!

Will keep in mind though!

Cheers

E
