Johnny Duncan put out a 45 back in the 60's on Leader 814, "Wheels"/"Raindrops". Does anyone know if his version of "Wheels" had lyrics? If not, WHO did the song with lyrics?...someone did. Please e-mail me if you have info about this. Thanks, "Rose, The Record Lady" http://recordlady.webgcs.com/main.htm

This is not the Parsons/Hillman song you are talking about, is it? "We've all got wheels to take ourselves away".

I have no idea how the lyrics might go...just that it's done to the tune of the original instrumental version of "Wheels" that was a hit in '61 by The String-A-Longs and also done by Billy Vaughn in 1961.

The sound links on the Sam McGee site don't work for me. Anyone else have any luck?

"Wheels " enjoyed a renewed popularity in the UK in the seventies, when some body builder won the "Opportunity Knocks" TV talent show several times in succession by flexing muscles in all parts of his body to the accompaniment of this tune.

I think that Norman Petty wrote the lyrics "tell the World" to "Wheels

Johnny Duncan WAS involved with Norman Petty, and recorded for him '59 and early 60's before he signed with Columbia, so perhaps the Johnny Duncan recording of "Wheels" on Leader 814 WAS a vocal version of the song!!!Doesn't anybody out there have that record?...I NEED a copy of it in ra or MP3....Thanks!

The sheet music to Wheels (Tell the World) by Norman Petty is available from this site. (Scroll down until you come to "Stringalongs").

A catchy piece - have it in a collection of "Surf Music."

Only words I've heard were from square dancing...the ending refrain...."Men cut back.....promenade and everybody turn."

I NEED a ra or MP3 file of the song, NOT the lyrics only, so if anyone can come up with that, I'd appreciate it! Thanks, Rose, "The Record Lady" recldy@pdq.net

Sorcha, you are probably correct for the correct beat such as a two step or a double two step, but this tune when played real fast has a step of its own and my wife and I call it the toledo. We also like to dance it with Ski Boot on after a day of downhill skiing Louie
