Say goodbye, those of you who remember the 1972-74 UK pub rock scene, to Barry Richardson, founder and bass player of the seminal band of that era: "Bees Make Honey".

Barry lived in Belgium since the early '80's and has been responsible for much fine music since then, with the country/rock band "Beeline" and guesting with the "Creole Shakers" and other jazz bands in the Capital of Europe. He lost his long and courageous fight with cancer on Christmas Day 2001.

Bassist, gutarist, saxophonist, singer/songwriter, marathon runner and a good friend of mine. A sad loss indeed. He's survived by his devoted wife Janet and sons Oisin and Jamie. A memorial service for Barry will be held on 2 February 2002 at St Andrew's Church, Brussels. Details on request.

"...do one thing for an old man won't you? Think of me sometimes...." (from Barry's song "Crossroads"). Goodbye, mate.

Hi!

I am so sad to hear your post! I work at the community centre in North London where Barry and his band used to play for summer festivals. I have found some beautiful photographs (you can see one on our website http://whittingtonpca.org.uk/about-us/our-history/) of the band and the collection is now at Bishopsgate Institute. Do you know if any of the band members are still around and how I could get in touch with them?

My emails is katia@whittingtonpca.org.uk.

Thank you!

Katia

Hi, I was very sorry to hear of Barry's death. I went to college with his wife Janet and we all shared a house together in our final year. I was in yearly contact with Jan, sometimes visiting them in London and Brussels. My last contact was about 8 years ago and I would very much like to know where she is now. If anyone has any information, I'd love to hear from them. My email is cherryhayter@hotmail.com. Many thanks, Cherry

How strange to see a thread I had posted on Mudcat about 14 years ago suddenly surge into life!

Sorry, Cherry for putting this on the open forum but the email address you gave wasn't recognised.

Janet Richardson is still living in Brussels, unfortunately I don't have her phone number. She is still associated with the Brussels Hash House Harriers running group. You should get her at this address:-

Avenue Prekelinden 115
B-1200 Woluwe-St. Lambert
Belgium

Hope this is helpful,

Regards

Tony
