Subject: RE: eddie stobart trucks From: Fossil Date: 12 Nov 13 - 10:22 PM When I lived in Belgium and we used to drive around on the main highways, seeing an "Eddie" was a big deal. Mary and I had a game we used to play on the road - we spent a lot of time at weekends driving on the Antwerp Ring, where there are lots of trucks - based on "spotting". The rules were refined over hours of arguing, but ended up as follows:- Norbert Dentressengle - normal artic - 1 point Norbert D. - tanker - 2 points Eddie Stobart - normal artic - 3 points Eddie Stobart - tanker - 4 points ONLY Eddies and Norberts counted. Trucks from other firms, while sometimes picturesque or rare, didn't count. For all Eddies, an extra point could be gained by spotting the tractor unit's name. Boat on trailer (any firm) - 5 points, extra 5 if it was a sailboat. 5 extra if it was a big boat, over 30 feet or so. Inflatables don't count. All points doubled in any category if the vehicle in question was spotted while it was passing underneath or on a railway bridge with a train going by. So you spotted your truck, pointed it out (first to speak gets the points), but it had to be verified by the other person to count. Passed many happy hours on motorways around the UK and the rest of Europe like that. |
