No I am afraid. It is new to me and I have looked for it on this site but it might be a later song than those?

Link fixed. One of your brackets was pointing the wrong way. --JoeClone, 7-Feb-02.

Shambles, thanks for that link! I looked through the lyrics of The 5000 Spirits or the Layers of the Onion and found myself instantly transported back to freshman year at college, 1970. What a trip!

Aloha,
Mark

Subject: Lyr Add: THE TUNE I HEAR SO WELL (Robin Williamson
From: Margaret V

Hi, Michael, the song is on "Journey's Edge" (Flying Fish, 1977). Lovely song, isn't it? I often find myself singing fragments while driving in the car. Margaret
THE TUNE I HEAR SO WELL

With a stranger's frown I came to town riding in a car
With a bloody rose in my lapel & whiskey in a jar
And all I left behind me to remind me who I am
Was plain boiled potatoes & the blood of the lamb

(Chorus)
But with all the words that I have heard
I don't see how I'll tell
I don't see how I'll ever play
The tune I hear so well

The nursemaid has her coup de grace, the nun her cup of gall
Young girls have their silks & satins, old maids have their shawls
The judge's book, the boxer's bell, the butcher his sweet smile
The rhyme must have a reason, the time must have a while

(Chorus)

The lady has her vision & the lazy have their sleep
The dream that I dreamed on the world was long & dark & deep
And when I woke I broke my fast, drinking at the still
By the bright stars of morning on the road behind the hill
