Subject: Weekend do in Shropshire/Mid Wales From: Trevor Date: 05 Feb 02 - 05:25 AM This has already been mentioned in a couple of messages but I think it now merits its own thread. Sally Vowles, better known to festival-goers as Mrs Lemon, is organising a weekend event in Bishops Castle, Shropshire, from 24th-26th May. The idea is for a 'fringe' without the festival. There are going to be a couple of ceilidhs and a couple of concerts but the main action is going to be singaround and musicians' sessions in the pubs and cafes in the town. There's going to be storytelling, kid's entertainment, and a craft fair. If anybody knows the area I'm sure they will agree that it is an ideal venue for a good, friendly weekend of craic and music in a really picturesque part of the world. I'll have a few flyers at Stony Stratford this weekend and there's a bit more info on this site, set up by Mr Red, or p-mail me. It would be a great opportunity for another Mudcat get-together. Cheers. |

Martin Hugill (yep son of) will be running shanty sessions. And unconfirmed reports of Julie Felix booked independantly by a local venue over the w/e. There is a ceilidh on the Saturday. Next step the perma thread (am I ready for this?) |

Subject: RE: Weekend do in Shropshire/Mid Wales From: Noreen Date: 06 Feb 02 - 01:54 PM Shame we didn't know the date of the Yorkshire gathering before we committed to singing at Bishop's Castle, Mrs Duck. Thanks for posting, Trevor. Noreen |
Subject: RE: Weekend do in Shropshire/Mid Wales From: Trevor Date: 07 Feb 02 - 04:52 AM I'm sorry about that Mrs D. I know that Sal checked other festival dates but she obviously wasn't aware of 'cat events. Hope you get loads as well! Cheers. |
