From: Little Hawk

Okay, here's a question that seriously needs answering. What is sexier on a man, chest hair or no chest hair? You've got movies like the Austin Powers series portraying a shaggy-chested hero, as if this was something desirable. Is it? I think not, but what do you think?

You've got Sean Connery, just slightly less hairy than the average gorilla...considered very sexy by any number of people.

Then you've got William Shatner...the ultimate interstellar stud muffin of all time...a virtually hairless chest so virile that, that...words fail me...

And so the debate rages on...what's sexier? Lots of chest hair, some chest hair, very little chest hair, or no chest hair at all?

Feel free to opinionate all about it on this thread.

Comments about Major Tom do not belong here, Spaw, so just don't.

If Shatner has no chest hair, then the choice is obvious...no chest hair. After, The Great One is the setter of standards!

Why not explain all the psychological and sociological reasons to all of us Hawk? Write out all the pros and cons based on various cultures around the world over the past 500 years and post the whole thing here. I know we'd all be bored fuckin' stiff very interested in your thoughts. Shave your palms and get started.

Chest hair!!!!! now then talking from the female perspective on this rather delicate subject...........I find a slight covering of chest hair on my men to be quite attractive unlike the amazon rainforest that happens to be growing on our flatulant house mate chris. And I hasten to add that I only know this because he parades himself around the house in his boxer shorts.........nice if you like that sort of thing. Jez is less picky and said that she just likes men in general!!!!! What more can I say??????

I think the question everyone really wants answered is whether or not Captain Janeway has hair on her chest. Or back, for that matter. What do you think LH?

(btw. I've volunteered you to go on a road trip to Newfoundland with Jack the Sailor, gnu, and me this coming summer on little john cameron's "Buddy Wasisname" thread. Are you in or out?)

I don't find this thread boring in the least, well done LH.

I do think however that it could profitably be expanded to encompass the question of whether any men find body hair on women attractive.

Some men must do, or at any rate not be totally turned off. I have a very close female friend who shaves neither her legs nor her armpits, yet she has always had a boyfriend in tow, as far back as I can remember.

I assume this refusal to depilate is some kind of political stance (she is rather radical). Or maybe she is just making sure that I never hit on her ....

Well my bikini line's not too fuzz free at the moment after a bad wax and the wax was so bad I'm considering leaving it!

It's a pain in the ass all this shaving, depliating and waxing. When i have money I'm going for laser treatment...

Well, herself thinks that anyone who can be concerned about secondary, or mabe tertiary, sexual characteristics needs to seriously think about getting a life.

I, on the other hand, think that ANYONE who believes that ANYTHING could make William Shatner sexy has forfeited any chance of getting a life.

GOOD line there, artbrooks! LOL! I'll have to remember that one.

Thanks, Murray!

53 - Come on! I can't be expected to reveal everything....

Hair on women's bodies? Well, I don't mind armpit hair at all...if I like the woman. I don't demand a bikini line from anyone. I am sort of bothered by mustaches on females, and other facial or chest hair I find a little disconcerting...but...if I liked her enough that probably wouldn't matter either.

Oh, and leg hair...again, fine, if I like the woman. In fact, it's preferable to bristles, cos it's softer.

Janeway? Hmmmmm. "To Boldly Go Where..." Naw, well, she's not really my type, I guess.

From a quick Google search ...

".........It's one of several artifacts that round out the exhibit, included alongside such unique objects as a 1963 Alfred E. Neuman Model Kit, a 1987 MAD Squirting Stapler, and, most amusing of all, a 1962 MAD LP featuring such songs as "When My Pimples Turned to Dimples" and "Please, Betty Jane (Shave Your Legs!)." Alfred E. Neuman, rock star? In this MAD MAD MAD MAD world, anything's possible.

The hairs on his chest they were two.
He wanted to fight like the he-men,
And do as the he-men do."

...and, it goes on, by tring too hard to prove himself, he got himself killed..

"....he died with two six-guns a-blazin',
But only two hairs on his chest"

funny...a phrase in German pops into my head:
"Es compt mich nicht darauf an." It doesn't make any any difference to me

(I'd start a thread on whether and how how often to rotate yer tires...but I remember the condom thread!)

I'm horrified to be weighing in on so BURNING a topic so late in the day; that's what I get for going to work---sheesh!

Anyway, I agree that for the most part it really depends on whom the hair is growing out of, within reason. I'd say I prefer SOME hair, otherwise it seems sort of odd (except in the case of Le Shatner, of course; he who defies all ordinary standards!). On the other hand, those hairy-backed guys you see at the beach (almost invariably in Speedos---most perplexing, really) are not at all to my personal taste.

Obviously, hairy palms are right out, but rather than shaving, one could use that unfortunately named Australian product...NADS! I wonder if it's any good for blindness....?
