The hymn and fiddle tune 'Flight of earls' can be used as a good lead in or instrumental along with the song posted (different tunes)
When somone asks what was the other tune? you can always say 'Flight of Earls' and watch the expression on their face.

Maybe I'll get flamed, but I always hated that damn song. I guess it just gets on my nerves that ppl emigrate, and then spend all their time saying how wonderful the place is they've left. If it's so good, then bugger off back there! And it's not like Ireland doesn't have a solid economy now either, but I've yet to hear of a massive influx of ppl from the US coming back to become the "leaders" (yeah right)...

Pratchett put it best (quoting from "The Fifth Elephant" from memory). "There's all these dwarves in the city, singing about how much they loved the mines and how sad they are to have to be here, and how much they want to go home. But when you say 'Well go on then, the gates are open', they say 'Oh, well, not just yet'."

I never liked this song either, but not for any of Grab's reasons. I just don't like the tune or the words... but I never minded the sentiment.
