Subject: pepsi cola and old hunting tune From: GUEST,Mark Campbell Date: 28 Feb 02 - 07:07 PM Hi all, Mark Campbell here.. Quote from http://www.classicthemes.com/technologyTimeline.html 1939 - National radio hit advertising jingle "Pepsi-Cola Hits The Spot" is written by Eric Siday and Ginger Johnson, adapted from the tune of an 18th-century English hunting song titled "John Peel". Anyone know anything about John Peel? |

Subject: RE: pepsi cola and old hunting tune From: GUEST,Mark Date: 28 Feb 02 - 07:59 PM Thanks all. Turns out John Peel has sparked lots of discussion in the past 3 years. I think this songs its predecessors and derivatives would make a good set of tunes (with gaelic and welsh where required). My band Tursacan may well be interested in a new millenium version of John Peel (with global "odd rhythms" to spice things up even more).

Subject: RE: pepsi cola and old hunting tune From: Bill D Date: 28 Feb 02 - 11:50 PM the Pepsi jingle was very close to the "John Peel" tune...except for the last line, which Pepsi changed a bit to make it fit a short jingle |
