Her beauty is of much renown, she's the girl for me...." Also would like any information about the song and possibly a source for a recording of the same.

From: PKD on Teesside Date: 24 Mar 98 - 02:31 AM Do you mean Old Brown's daughter, she's a proper sort of girl, Old Brown's daughter she's as bright as any pearl. I wish I was a Lord Mayor, a Marquis or an Earl, I'm blowed I wouldn't marry Old Browns Girl Cos if you do, I would mind them words either ! |
Subject: RE: Need information and lyrics. From: mulley Date: 24 Mar 98 - 09:24 AM If the lyrics you are after are the same as those from PKD on teeside then you can find the song called,"Old Browns Daughter" on a CD named English Traditional Folk Music on the fellside label.I can't remember the singer but I'll check for you tonight and I'll get the words too. Bye for now from Mulley! |
Subject: RE: Need information and lyrics. From: Tim Jaques tjaques@netcom.ca Date: 24 Mar 98 - 06:47 PM Old Brown's Daughter also has a Newfoundland version. I didn't know it was English in origin but I should have suspected as much, as there isn't much in the way of Marquises and Earls on The Rock. I have it in a version sung by Newfoundlander Ron Hynes, the fellow who wrote Sonny's Dream.
