Hi all

Two female accordionists are visiting Co Clare Fri 29th March till Wed 4th April. Gigging in Ennistymon (Daly's) on Sunday 31st. Anyone know where else they should go for a bit of craic.

Most times I ask this question the answer is "sure every other pub"
look in the Gold Pages (if it is still printed - some pubs publish their music nights there (in the tourist season at least).

Go to Ennis, to be sure...lots of pubs with nightly stuff there. Be sure to check out Ciaran's, up the street from the O'Donnell monument (can't miss that). And there's another, bigger pub just half a block farther that has things happening (a little too crowded for my tastes). And check out May Kearney's, just over the river. Of course, this information is based on my trip back in 95. Likely, things have changed. If you have the chance to hear Mick Coyne play, do so. Splendid uillean pipes player. He owns several hairdressing shops in the area.

eh - that's the O'Connell monument Lynn. I don't think they've started putting up monuments to the other Daniel yet. The bigger pub sounds like Cruises. Most of the above advice is still current. Also try Mickey Kerin's (near May Kearney's on a Friday (may not be open 29th - which is true for almost all pubs in Ireland) or PAddy Quinn's in the markets on Saturday.

Doolin, near the cliffs of Moher (amazing place, worth a look)used to be really good when I was there a few years ago - two excellent music pubs, McGanns and O'Connors (I think). The Burren is also there - amazing limestone country.

Lisdoonvarna. I spent three days trying to avoid live sessions and music. Every where you went in that town was music , music , music. Every bloody bar had a session at night and some in the afternoon.

It was a terrible three days.

Ireland as you know, thinks it's the music capital of the world, Clare thinks it's the music capital of Ireland, Doolin thinks it's the music capital of Clare and O'Connors thinks it's the music capital of Doolin. Personally on several visits I have found McGann's to be the better of the bars for music in Doolin, a couple of great Easter Sunday sessions. If you're travelling further afield, there will be a gang of us in and around Stradbally on the Dingle peninsula around the same time Have fun

Dont forget Vaughan's Pub in Kilfenora. Esp Thurs nights..when set dancing is the order of the night. pjc

PS I forgot to mention that Ciaran's Bar in Ennis is now a Plastic Palace, gone are the open fire and tiny bar, the place has been knocked about, extended, de-humanised. Another one bites the dust
