Tune Req: Shady Grove (Maybelle Carter)

Do any of you 'Catters have a recording of Maybelle Carter singing/playing this song (that you could share, of course)? I ran across a TAB version for guitar, but it sure doesn't sound like the Shady Grove I know. 'Course, it could just be the way I'm playin' it -- but, I used to be able to read music ... ;-) Any help would be mighty appreciated.

And I tried that site, Louie Roy, but it was just lyrics. But thanks for link, I'm sure I'll be using it in the future.

I talked to Amos last night, and he thinks that the TAB song I found could possibly be a version of 'Betty Anne' in a minor key.

So, does anyone know where I can find a soundfile or recording of 'Betty Anne'??

Aine, I'm sorry-- I forget you were gone awhile. Honking Duck is a fantastic site someone found and posted here awhile back, and we all got pretty excited about it. My post above was meant to save people the time to go look there.

In all my years of listening and loving Carter Family music, I never heard any of them sing/play, "Shady Grove." That's not to say they didn't, but if they did, it certainly was not often. Let us hear, if it can be found? Jean

Hmm, the DT's Betty Anne is what I knew as Fly Around Pretty Little Miss. In western Arkansas, I heard it at square dances in the 40s and 50s. Never til now connected it with Shady Grove -- sheeesh!

On Uncle Henry's site, I found a reference to a recording by the Pine River Boys and Maybelle called Pig in the Pen- listed as a var.? of Shady Grove?? A 1954 LP. This may (or may not) help.

Item no. 11 under Pig in the Pen, Pine River Boys with Maybelle. Outback, Heritage (Galax)003(III), LP 1974, cut# B.002. Don't comprehend all of this but you may know more or know where to go from there.

Well, got the Pig traced down. Still don't know if it is the one you want, but look at this: All Pig
Under others, note item beginning Outback. Also note first and last items. Looks like this one dates to the 1930s as far as recording goes.
