Is there anyone who can help me to the words of the song "Falmouth" by Des Fenoughy. Des is/was a member of the Rocky River Bush Band. I know the song was recorded by a member of the Danish Group "Forebitters".

Thanks.

Kees

Google is brilliant! When you put in "Falmouth Fenoughy" (without quotation marks) as a search argument, it asks, "Did you mean: Falmouth Fenoughty?" Sure enough, the correct spelling is "Fenoughty." Then the first page that comes up is about an album called The Persimmon Tree by an Australian duo called Lyrical Folkus. One of the cuts is "Falmouth" and Des Fenoughty performs on that cut.

He also performs "Falmouth" on another album called "'Shanghaied Crew" by the Danish singer Helge Arildsø. (They spell his name three different ways on one page.)

Sorry, that doesn't give you the lyrics, but the information might be helpful to somebody.

Hi Jim,

Thank you for trying to find the lyrics. I indeed hope that someone can get me the right words. I do have the recording by Helge Arildso on which he is joined by the Rocky River Bush Band. Unfortunately, as English is not my native tongue, I miss a few lines. Thanks again.

Kees

Subject: Lyr Add: FALMOUTH (Des Fenoughty)

Thanks Mario, a good idea,

Here are the words I understand. I hope there is someone who can fill in the blanks.

FALMOUTH
(Des Fenoughty)

Leaving Australia and we're going home,
Heading back home to Falmouth,
Four thousand tons of grain below,
We're heading back home to Falmouth,
It's eastward past the Antipodes,
We're heading back home to Falmouth,
Full canvas through the roaring Forties,
We're heading back home to Falmouth.

CHORUS: And we're rolling home, we're rolling home,
For ………………… and a gentleman's daughter,
Oh we're rolling home, we're rolling home,
For a fine young woman and a barrel of porter.

Some fine days, heading for the horn,
Heading back home to Falmouth,
And washing our clothes when the sun is warm,
We're heading back home to Falmouth,
An albatros sailing on the wind,
Heading back home to Falmouth,
Visits us just like an old friend,
Heading back home to Falmouth.

………………… foresheets, we're rolling home,
Heading back home to Falmouth,
Shortening sails ready for the storms,
Heading back home to Falmouth,
Then it's stormy seas and Pacific gales,
Heading back home to Falmouth,
Round the Horn under heavy sails,
Heading back home to Falmouth.

Southeast trade winds blow us home,
Australia now it's two months gone,
Old Finnish steamer …………………
Two months to go and we're home at last,
We're rolling home, rolling home,
Oh we're rolling home.

The doldrums give us a chance to rest,
Heading back home to Falmouth,
Playing cards laying on the deck,
Heading back home to Falmouth,
Sailmakers patching with the palm and needle,
Heading back home to Falmouth,
The helmsman's cats they want some feeding,
And we're heading back home to Falmouth.

And it's northeast into the northern gales,
Heading back home to Falmouth,
And up on the foremast put on storm sails,
Heading back home to Falmouth,
There'll be land soon but it's still rough seas,
Heading back home to Falmouth,
Oh the round trip has taken us nearly a year,
We're heading back home to Falmouth.
