Subject: Kossoy Sisters CD From: dick greenhaus Date: 28 Mar 02 - 02:24 PM Well, Tradition (or their newer owners, Rykodisk) have finally decided to re-issue the Kossoy Sisters CD, "Bowling Green". This is the one that spplied the cut of "I'll Fly Away" that appeared in O Brother. CAMSCO is selling it for $11.98

Subject: RE: Kossoy Sisters CD From: masato sakurai Date: 28 Mar 02 - 02:39 PM It has already been reissued on the second half of Instrumental Music and Songs of the Southern Appalachians (Legacy International CD 329), though strangely the artists' name (The Kossoy Sisters) is omitted in the contents or notes. ~Masato |
Subject: RE: Kossoy Sisters CD From: GUEST Date: 28 Mar 02 - 05:08 PM Dick, do you add on additional shipping charges? I ordered the CD from Rykodisc in January. Delivery took about 10 days. They also charge $11.98 but that's including shipping. BTW, Ryko reissued the Kossoy Sisters CD in 1997. It was unavailable for a while when stock ran out due to the demand from O Brother at the same time that Ryko was going through its ownership change. A lot of their CD's that were out of stock during the ownership change were unavailable for a while. It looks like that's sorted out now. They've been shipping the Kossoy CD's again for at least a couple of months now. |

Subject: RE: Kossoy Sisters CD From: johnross Date: 29 Mar 02 - 06:25 PM That's an odd web site. Except for a couple of photos, it's nothing but the liner notes from the 1956 record. It looks as if whoever created the site hasn't had any contact with Ellen or Irene, and has no information that isn't 40+ years old. Nothing about their later recordings, or where-are-they-now, or influences on other singers, or anything else. Anybody have any current information about the Kossoy Sisters? It's been many years since I've had any contact with either one of them. |
