Subject: Five lyrics I need
From: GUEST,Mareike

There are five songs I know from CDs, but unfortunately I can't get the lyrics by listening. So if anyone can help me, I'd be very pleased!

The first song is called "Hail Mary Full Of Grace" and it's from Davey Arthur.

The second one is "Flower Of Scottland", which is a traditional scottish song, as far as I know.

The third song is "Chemical Worker's Song" and it's from a group called the "Foreign Feathers".

The fourth song is "St.Patrick's Breastplate" from Royston and Heater Wood.

And last but not least there is a song, which is very similar to a lot of other songs, it's called "The Frog's Wedding". But this special version is from "The Johnstons" and they have different melody and text than the more known versions.

I hope you can help me!

Mareike

Chemical Workers Song (or: I.C.I. Song)
(Ron Angel)

Go, boy, go
They time your every breath
Every day you're in this place
You're two days nearer death
But you go

A process man am I, I'm telling you no lie
I work and breathe among the fumes that trail across the sky
There's thunder all around me, poison in the air
A lousy smell that smacks of hell, dust all in my hair

I've worked among the spinners, breathed in the oily smoke
Shovelled at the gypsum that nigh on makes you choke
I've stood knee-deep in cyanide, got sick with the caustic burn
Been working rough, seen enough to make your stomach turn

There's overtime and bonus, opportunities galore
Young men like the money, they all come back for more
But soon you're knocking on, looking older than you should
Every bob made on this job is earned with sweat and blood

Repeat 1

Christ above me
Christ beneath me
Christ beside me
Christ my vision
Christ my wisdom
Christ my comfort
Christ my guide

I bind unto myself this day the strong name
Of the holy Trinity
Three in one and one in three

Not quite the Heather Wood/Royston Wood version, but I thought theirs is pretty clear, sin't it?

=====

Flower of Scotland is in the DT

Thanks shankmac and DMcG for your fast responding!

I don't know, why I didn't find "Flower Of Scotland" in the database - maybe I was blind that moment.

Not knowing anything about the version you asked about, this is a song found at one of the online hymnals.

Hymn - Hail MAry Full of Grace

Mareike

I'm not sure of the exact version of "Froggy" the Johnstons sang, but This Site may be of some use.

Cheers!
Ian

The Flower Of Scotland

O flower of Scotland
When will we see
Your like again
That fought and died for
Your wee bit hill and glen
And stood against him
Proud Edward's army
And sent him homeward
Tae think again.
The hills are bare now
And autumn leaves lie
Thick and still
O'er land that is lost now
Which those so dearly held
And stood against him
Proud Edward's army
And sent him homeward
Tae think again.

Those days are passed now
And in the past
They must remain
But we can still rise now
And be the nation again
That stood against him
Proud Edward's army
And sent him homeward
Tae think again.

I've closed this thread and moved lyrics we didn't have to threads about the particular songs. It's hard to know how to index a thread with five unrelated songs.
