Subject: Oz and the Osbournes?? From: harvey andrews Date: 04 Apr 02 - 11:52 AM My son just forwarded the following from BBC online so I suppose it must be true and not a mad April Fool's joke that's got out of hand? Ozzie and I lived within a few streets of each other and he lived just outside my village for some years. Sober, he was one of the funniest men I've ever known. He invited me to one of Sabs concerts once but I exited left very quickly when my ears actually began to hurt. The image of Oz yelling at neighbours for playing folk music too loud is utterly, utterly priceless!!!! So, America..is this true???
Wildman rocker Ozzy Osbourne has reportedly been invited to dinner at the White House by US president George W Bush, according to reports.
The Osbournes has become music channel MTV's biggest ever hit in the US,with more than three million viewers and President Bush is said to be a huge fan.
Osbourne said he was stunned to be invited, according to the Express newspaper.

Subject: RE: Oz and the Osbournes?? From: lady penelope Date: 04 Apr 02 - 01:14 PM Did you know that Ozzy now has tinitus and other hearing problems which may or may not have been due to the decibel level of the first twenty odd years of life. When he performs now, he wears earplug moniters that filter out most of the unwanted noise! So it's not that surprising actually. Ironic, but not surprising. TTFN M'Lady P. |
Subject: RE: Oz and the Osbournes?? From: UB Ed Date: 04 Apr 02 - 03:11 PM Finally caught an episode this past Monday, where Ozzie's family was fighting with the neighbors regarding their folk music. The Osbournes resorted to throwing food into the neighbor's yard. Show ends with Ozzie staggering around with a stick of firewood trying to find the neighbors yard so he could toss that in. Somehow post-Sabbath Ozzie has leveraged his act into a highly profitable venture that consistently defies all logic and good taste. And we love him. |
Subject: RE: Oz and the Osbournes?? From: harvey andrews Date: 04 Apr 02 - 03:51 PM What folk music were they playing too loud for Oz? This whole thing is so bizarre!!! |
Subject: RE: Oz and the Osbournes?? From: UB Ed Date: 04 Apr 02 - 04:34 PM I'm not sure; I was switching back and forth between that and the Basketball game, but I think I heard off-key renditions of "Michael rowed the Boat Ashore" and "Kumbyya". I don't think it was an issue of the music but more the quality (or lack thereof) of presentation.

Subject: RE: Oz and the Osbournes?? From: Kim C Date: 04 Apr 02 - 04:42 PM I'd probably throw sticks at 'em too. I think we should have a reality show with Alice Cooper. |
Subject: RE: Oz and the Osbournes?? From: UB Ed Date: 04 Apr 02 - 04:48 PM Perfect. Or Alice living next door to the Osbournes. |
Subject: RE: Oz and the Osbournes?? From: Rick Fielding Date: 04 Apr 02 - 06:32 PM The whole concept of this struck me as so bizarre, I thought it was an April Fool's joke at first. So here's a few more sure-fire TV hit shows: FAIRPORT CONNECTICUT....check in each week to the communal house where EVERY current and former member of Fairport Convention go to die...and have wacky celtic-rock fun. This week's episode features a great food fight, when Martin Carthy discovers that his Martin guitar has been turned into a planter. HARVEY....a mild mannered accountant suddenly discovers that he has been adopted by an invisible six foot songwriter! In some amazing gender-bending, Oscar winner Hallie Berry dons specs and a false beard, and teases HARVEY (played by Johhny Depp) into singing for her while in the shower. A laff-riot. A new twist on Ozzie and Harriet, escept this time the Ozzie is Ozzie Osbou.......naw, that's TOO far fetched! Cheers Rick |
Subject: RE: Oz and the Osbournes?? From: X Date: 05 Apr 02 - 10:57 AM I saw the show and it was not due to the music being folk, it was due to the fact that it was loud, it sucked and the his neighbors were using the "music" to taunt Ozzies famly while they were trying to sleep. |
Subject: RE: Oz and the Osbournes?? From: Steve Latimer Date: 05 Apr 02 - 11:12 AM I hate the concept of "reality TV", but I must admit, I would like to see this one. |
Subject: RE: Oz and the Osbournes?? From: Lepus Rex Date: 05 Apr 02 - 11:16 AM Do see it. Best "reality" show there is. (Well that's not exactly hard when all the others are crap, but it is a damned funny show) ---Lepus Rex |
Subject: RE: Oz and the Osbournes?? From: Kim C Date: 05 Apr 02 - 01:04 PM I didn't know this, but I was reading about Alice Cooper not very long ago, and he is actually a religious man. He said he never mentioned it because he didn't want his celebrity tied to his religion, as some people use their religion to further their celebrity. He comes to Nashville once in awhile to play golf with Vince Gill. I'd like to see The Osbournes just once, too... but I don't have cable. |

Subject: RE: Oz and the Osbournes?? From: Robin2 Date: 05 Apr 02 - 09:00 PM Just came back from watching this a second ago....and here it is on Mudcat A question...does anyone know if Ozzy has Parkinson's? In the clip I watched, he seemed to have some of the symptoms (mask-like face, one hand not responding, and tremor). Could be too much 60's and 70's, I know. Robin |
Subject: RE: Oz and the Osbournes?? From: lady penelope Date: 05 Apr 02 - 09:09 PM Ahhh, I now see the light, as it were. Mr Osbourne and his family are ( as we say in england ) 'taking the mick'. The question you now have to ask is " Who is making a mnkey out of who?" All I can say is, some one offered money to the Osbourne family and they are ( minus the eldest daugther ) "milking it". Good luck I say. TTFN M'Lady P. |
