Subject: New QUIZ (Nigel)
From: Nigel Parsons
Date: 17 Apr 02 - 07:55 AM

After a break, I thought it time to excercise the grey matter again. This quiz has nowt to do with music (Hence the BS title). As before, there is a common thread running through all the answers, so once you have the connection, all the answers should conform.
Again, as before, Please Do not post answers in the thread. I am quite happy to respond to PMs (as opposed to P.M.S.)
and claims of scores, or requests for clarification of particular questions can be posted here.

But Please Do not post answers in the thread.

1, Which was the first James Bond film ?
2, Who was the victim in Cleudo ?
3, Who was the fictitious chronicler of Sherlock Holmes ?
4, Which television series was set in Tannochbrae ?
5, Who is remembered as "The first criminal captured by radio " ?
6, Who had a 1972 hit with "Sylvia's Mother" ?
7, Which 1965 film featured Omar Sharif in a version of a novel by Boris Pasternak ?
8, What character is Richard Chamberlain best remembered for ? (for those old enough)
9, Which song was based on the film "The Millionairess" ?
10, Who has been played by several actors on TV, and Peter Cushing on film ?
11, Which smuggling parson was played on film by Patrick McGoohan ?
12, What initials relate to a repeated and recognisable style of perpetrating a crime ?
13, What initials were used for an early multi purpose army vehicle from America ?
14, In the song "My Boomerang won't come back" what did the boomerang hit ?
15, Which classic horror story was written by Robert Louis Stevenson ?
16, Who wrote "The common sense book of baby & Child care" ?
17, Who had a parrot called Polynesia ?
18, Who was played on TV by David Janssen, & on film by Harrison Ford ?
19, Who was played on TV & Film by DeForrest Kelly ?
20, Which film starred Peter Sellars as The US President, an R.A.F. captain & a mad German-American scientist ?

A bit easier this time (I think!) so Enjoy!

Okay, I thought these were a little easier, But.. I do 20 questions every Sunday for my local club, and they're tackled by individuals, or tables of up to 4 people.
I pride myself that I rarely need a tie break for two (or more) scores of 20; the top score is usually in the 17-20 range, and rarely does anyone/ any-one-team score less than 10.
As I ,obviously, start off knowing them all, it requires careful targetting.
And this month I need to do an extra 4 pages of 20, as we have a charity quiz if there are 5 Tuesdays in the month.
Just a little useless background!

Nigel

I have some, and some of them have a common thread - but not all, and some of those I'm sure of... so I guess I'm not getting them all!

Nice Quiz Nigel. I got a few, got the connecting theme, then got most of the rest. Will you give the answers sometime, as there are a few I want to check. I know the answer to No. 12, but I'm not sure if I have an orderly connection to the theme. Thanks, Eddie

Crazy Eddie: I usually leave it a few days before posting the answers, and that will be in a separate thread with a "Blue Clicky" here to take you to it. It will also be the same 'Answer' thread I have used before, and so will cross-reference to earlier quizzes.
If No 12 is confusing your connection, then think what else it can be an abbreviation for.
I'm sure you have the right line, as you do refer to it as an orderly connection! (Groan)

Bizarrely, I hadnt spotted that there was a common theme running through! I DON'T see how that theme fits with 12 & 13 though, even though I'm certain I have the right answers to them (100% certain..well, I THINK....*L*)

....but the theme is no help with the two I still havent got - 9 & 14.

AHHH! Just got 9, I reckon.

This is the place for serious quizers, it's some years since I had a go, but it is a good resource for anyone setting a quiz.

We had a pub team of about 10 people, and about 3 weeks to research, never came anywhere near the money.

Paul: and others having problems with 12/13, Both the answers are abbreviations which have other uses in keeping with the theme.
As Crazy Eddie said, it's an orderly connection, so try and answer them in tern

15 out of 20 in about 3 minutes, which isn't bad for someone who doesn't watch TV?
