Looking for the chords to make an instrumental guitar arrangement for the above. Tried OLGA without luck. Thanks, Dave

Copied from someones web site -

'Sounds Orchestral' had a UK hit with the song in 1964, and an American publisher kindly sent us a couple of other versions (including one by the composer, Vince Guaraldi.

Cast Your Fate to the Wind

A month of nights, a year of days
Octobers drifting into Mays
You set your sail when the tide comes in
And you cast your fate to the wind

You shift your course along the breeze
Won't sail up wind on memories
The empty sky is your best friend
And you just cast your fate to the wind

That time has such a way of changing a man throughout the years
And now you're rearranging your life through all your tears
Alone, alone

There never was, there couldn't be
A place in time for men to be
Who'd drink the dark and laugh at day
And let their wildest dreams blow away

So now you're old, you're wise, you're smart
You're just a man with half a heart
You wonder how it might have been
Had you not cast your fate to the wind

Allan

This has been one of my piano party pieces for years, ever since the Sounds Orchestral version, and I never knew it had words, either!

I have the piano score, but it does not have the guitar chords. Reckon I'll have a go at turning it into a guitar solo.

Thanks, chaps!

Alan

This song was published in 1960. Words by Carel Werber, and music by Vincent Guaraldi. Guaraldi made a recording of the song, and the Sounds Orchestral version came out in 1965.
I particularly like the recording of this song by We Five (one-hit wonders who recorded "You Were On My Mind"). Collectors Choice music has a nice CD reissue of a collection of We Five recordings.

I didn't know there were words either. I'm only familiar with the Guaraldi trio version. Thanks for the responses all and for the chords, Spaw. Dave

Jeez! I only ever heard the MEL TORME sung version, which did well in the charts in the 60's (well, in Australia anyway!!) and which I have LOVED ever since.
Mudcat, you've done it again!!
Cheers! R-J

I bought a used LP yearsa ago just because it had the version I liked; shamelessly schmaltzy. I still like it when I'm actually in a mood to do it. -- MAG
