According to Google, yes it was Aine. I found a bunch of songs with this title, can you give a small quote from the lyrics?

The refrain was something like "your hand in my hand and my hand in your hand". And I think there's a verse that starts like this "take me away on a song sung at evning, on wishes...

It was indeed Hand in hand - by Aine (with an accent over the A) Furey

Recorded on: 'Celtic Woman Vol 1' - info here and here - but no lyrics found...

Perhaps send a PM to Mudcat's own Aine or Philippa? They seem to be resident experts on some of the Irish Gaelic songs. Perhaps they know this one too.

Copied from http://www.icompositions.com/music/song.php?sid=89839 :

HAND IN HAND
Written by Martin Furey
Sung by Áine Furey on "Celtic Woman, Vol. 1"

Buy me a boat and I will put you on it
My love, and I will be a boon
Build me a ship and I will sail upon it
With you to a place that you choose
Well here I go again with the cold mists of Eden
Surrounding my feet as I walk
And here I go again with the grin that you cherish
My heart in my mouth as we talk

Time never battered you more than your will
To be freer than ever you were
Time never sheltered you --- no, not at all like
The strength of your grip on my hand
In my hand in your hand in your hand in my hand
In my hand in your hand in my hand
In my hand in your hand in your hand in my hand
In my hand in your hand in my hand

Take me away on a song sung at evening
On tunes whispered softly at dawn
Take me away on a promise, a wedding
Of wishes that know no rapport
Well here I go again with the cold mists of Eden
Surrounding my feet as I walk
And here I go again with the grin that you cherish
My heart in my mouth as we talk

Time never battered you more than your will
To be freer than ever you were
Time never sheltered you --- no, not at all like
The strength of your grip on my hand
In my hand in your hand in your hand in my hand
In my hand in your hand in my hand
In my hand in your hand in your hand in my hand
In my hand in your hand in my hand

I thought that this may have been Gene Mac Lellan's "Put your Hand In The Hand" . Not the same though.
