Subject: Folksingers in Love From: GUEST,Hal Davis Date: 06 May 02 - 08:25 PM This is a three-cushion shot. Cindy Anderson (kingcindy@dowco.com) queried Toronto folk singer Marie-Lynn Hammond: My husband [King] and I remember seeing you at the Vancouver Folk Music Festival in 1991, and hearing you sing a song called (I think) "Folksingers in Love". We have been trying, unsuccessfully, to find the lyrics and/or author of the song ever since. (I've also scoured the internet, using every search term that I could think of.) It was kind of a spoof of folk songs and folksingers generally, and we got quite a kick out of it (old "folksingers" that we are). Would you perchance remember the song and be able to help us find it? It would mean a lot to us. Thank you for your time, King and Cindy Anderson "Canadian love, oh Canadian love -- it's either forty below or it's ninety above..." -- M.L.Hammond (from her song Canadian Love) http://www.marielynnhammond.com =============================== Marie-Lynn (mlh@marielynnhammond.com)responded: Hi there, Sounds like a great tune but it's not mine, alas! Does anyone from the festival remember? (Of course, it could be a whole new crew runningthings now...) Have you posted to some of those folk music lists where people seem to know everything? [then she dragged me into it] I'm not on one myself, but am ccing a folk-fan friend who is a journalist and who is very good at ferreting out info. Good luck! Marie-Lynn Hammond =================== I've been lurking here for a while, and thought I'd post the query. Mudcat's lyric database didn't seem to have it. You might want to respond directly to the Andersons as well. Hal Davis |
