Try me best to get organised, most likely travelling, not staying-HMI's in on Monday-why does the mudcat gathering happen when the Inspectors are due, even if the date has moved, do you know something I don't?

May manage Friday or saturday evening at best.

Some detailed directions for finding the Gathering :-
IF you are heading NORTH up the A19 from the M62 -
From the M62 you head North up the A19 towards Selby. You pass Eggborough Power Station, then appproach a bridge over the river Aire (about 4 miles north of the M62). As you approach the bridge there are road signs which say Chapel Haddlesey, Please Drive Slowly You then cross the bridge. On your right there is a car showroom - Michaels of Selby which sells Reliant Robins. Immediately beyond is a crossroads. You turn LEFT, which is signposted to West Haddlesey. You follow the road for about a mile to the George & Dragon.
If you are towing a caravan, you need to look out for a Garden Centre on your right. YORKSHIRE GARDEN WORLD, is before you reach the pub. Just after the Garden Centre, on the same side, look for an opening and evidence of people. It is the next gateless gate hole after the Centre.
The George & Dragon is about 100 yards further on, but there isn't much turning space for caravans beyond the pub. Best not to miss it.

If you are approaching from the NORTH, via Selby - Head SOUTH DOWN the A19. You pass through the village of BURN.
Sout of Burn, you reach the crossroads with the Reliant Robin garage. Turn RIGHT then follow the previous directions.

For those with chemical toilets, there is a septic tank where the camping is going to be. We can use the septic tank for disposal, but you cannot put BLUE elsan fluid down a septic tank. The GREEN biodegradable version of chemical toilet filler is okay though.

Mr Happy - it isn't really necessary to keep refreshing these threads. We are keeping the thread alive, but if it just keeps going to the top of the list without anything really being added, it just becomes long and boring. We are into the last minute arragements, and need to know when somebody adds information for us to process. We keep having to reopen the thread needlessly just to check who has added what.
Mudcat threads do not fall off the bottom of the list, but if nothing is posted for 24 hours, it then disapears from the 1-Day view. Refreshing is not usually necessary

Thanks all those who have let me know. Sunday breakfast as I said earlier will only be bacon butties up to around 9.30 as they have Sunday lunches to prepare. Nothing special planned for Saturday lunch but those who have the full English will not be ready for much I expect!! Pie and peas will be available on Friday night at a very reasonable cost.

Slight change of plan. Tents WILL now be on the piece of land next to the pub which is grassy and a lot more suitable. Caravans are still on the area 200 yards down the road on the opposite side as detailed above. Selby and myself have spent this evening devising a cunning quiz to keep you all amused and maybe raise a few bob for the Mudcat. There will also be a raffle so if anyone wishes to donate a small prize it will be much appreciated. Roll on Fiday!!

Pied Piper - The most likely Railway station to get to would be Selby. Selby is about 4 miles north of the A19 crossroads, and the George & Dragon a further mile into West Haddlesey. There may be buses from Selby to Doncaster, but I don't know how they run on Sundays. JeZeBeL has a timetable and may be able to supply info (although their computer was down recently, so I don't know if she is currently online.)
It may be possible to arrange a collection if somebody isn't drinking.
I found a website which claims to suply train times - Here it is!.

Last night was a fun session with about a dozen catters singing and playing till about 2-30am. Today there was a strong song session going on inside and a musicians session outside in the bright sunshine probably about 30 or so catters including Ivan B and his wife from Lancing Mitchigan US and Mooman from Brussels. Should be a great night of music and song tonight. Must get back, I only come home to let the dog out. Cheers Bill

As for me, I loved everything aboout the do (or my time there - its still going).

I could give a lot of praise in lot of directions, musical, company and organisational but I think I will just thank Mrs Duck for her efforts in getting it all together.

Thanks Mrs Duck for the excellent organization and to the George and Dragon for their wonderful hospitality!

I CAN access Mudcat now, so here's a repeat of what I put on The Annexe just in case you don't go there.

THANK YOU for the wonderful Mudcat gathering in Yorkshire yesterday--or was it today?! A brilliant venue, well organised by Mr and Mrs Duck, superb music and singing, good food and most of all the company of lovely people, made new friends and put faces to those who were just nicknames, even the sun shone for us!!

We arrived home at 4-45am, singing loudly most of the way to make sure I stayed awake! Now I'm looking forward to next year year. Pip

I had a fab time too - sorry I couldn't be there for longer. And thanks to the kind people who didn't laugh at me when I dared play my concertina (badly) for the first time in public.

Many Thanks for a great time from WindyB and Jellybeam, to the Ducks and Wendy & Graham. The beer was great, and the bar staff were even better ! We've left the double bass there ready for the next one.

Cheers,

G & C

Nice pics, micca, thank you!

(BTW, Little McMoo is called Hannah, and there's something odd about the caption to Spot the Dog's picture.)

I was squinting because I was still three quarters asleep and the "sun" was in my eyes, and I wasn't fully ready with the smile when Micca took the piccy! If you're wondering, the Tshirt and the necklace that I'm holding are two of my prezzies from Sorcha as part of the Secret Santa thing!

It was a fantastic thing though, and I met lots of people. I'm not so infamous any more!

I enjoyed shaking hands with lots of people. I also enjoyed (sad person that I am) the custard workshop and fully intend to practise this with my 5 year old grandson this weekend.

There are some really nice (and very talented) people on Mudcat and the gatherings for me are a celebration of this fact.

Spot (with my IARF cookie problem that I can't resolve)

BJ, it was just a get together of poeple from here that took place near Selby, North Yorkshire.

There are several attempts at get togethers from people here throughott the year although I've yet to read about an Australian one and cannot think of another Yorkshire event this year unless you considered the Beverly do which I think has the involvement of a lot of people from here.

There is a permathread on the gatherings somewhere here which may explain more but to me, they are just simple meetings of people who may have met before but may also just know one another as names and formats can differ.

Jon (still "buzzing" from this one)

Arrived home yesterday and I'd like to add my voice to the praises for Jane and Geoff's organization work and the landlords and workers of the George and Dragon for making last weekend so enjoyable. Although we had too leave much too soon, Gaile and I both enjoyed ourselves greatly. 'Twas wonderful meeting all the Mudcatters in attendance as well as sharing songs and tunes.

Gaile, who took accordion lessons as a child and hasn't played in years, was amazed at Sam Pirt's dexterity. And we both enjoyed that part of the tune session we heard before we had to leave. Here's hoping we can make it another time and, perhaps, stay longer.
