Levy has a title "Just One Rose", 1924, but no image. I also found this--, with background MIDI, maybe???

there is a bluegrass/gospel song called Just One Rose Will Do, but I don't know about finding lyrics anywhere, I am sure it has been recorded though. Don't know if that's the one, or how old a tune it is.

There is a recitation here, but I'll bet that is not it either. Found references to the bluegrass song, but no lyrics.

JUST A ROSE WILL DO
(J. A. McClung, 1942)

When time shall come for my leaving, when I bid you adieu,
Don't spend your money for flowers. Just a rose will do.

CHORUS: I'll go to a beautiful garden at last when life's work is through.
Don't spend your money for flowers. Just a rose will do.

Just have an old-fashioned preacher preach a sermon so true.
I'll need no beautiful flowers. Just a rose will do. CHO.

I'll need no organization just to make a to-do.
I'll need no bright decorations. Just a rose will do. CHO.

Just One Rose Will Do was written by Roy "Pop" Lewis. It was also modified and recorded by Porter Wagoner. You can find the lyrics on the Lewis Family webpage.
