Subject: RE: OUTSIDER in Beverley on 16 June From: GUEST,Weasle Date: 11 Jun 02 - 03:03 PM Can anyone go to the Bodhran Workshop? and do they have to bring their own bodhran |
Subject: RE: OUTSIDER in Beverley on 16 June From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 11 Jun 02 - 03:14 PM I would say yes and yes to the two questions - perhaps Mary or Carole could give a definitive answer to the second R |
Subject: RE: OUTSIDER in Beverley on 16 June From: Chris Amos Date: 11 Jun 02 - 04:21 PM A silly thought, I used to live in Hull many years ago, (the seventies). I used to work for a charity there called Outsider dealing with single homeless people and also acting as a community information service, seeing the name Outsider in connection with Beverely (v. near Hull made me wonder....... Subject: RE: OUTSIDER in Beverley on 16 June From: Caz Date: 11 Jun 02 - 06:41 PM Hi Weasle Yes anyone can go to the workshop. However it is going to be set up for beginners with things like holding the stick (I'm sure there's a technical name for it which Mary will know), how to do different rolls and strokes, using the different areas of the instrument for different sounds etc etc. And yes you do have to bring your own bodhràn for two reasons, 1 - you are always more comfortable with your own instrument and 2 - Mary only has two! Hope this helps. Hi Chris No we are nothing to do with the charity Outsider though we do do charity gigs/concerts. Our name came from the idea that our music should be slightly different to the usual so we do three-part harmony and select and arrange all our material to be different from what others are doing. The reason for this is that Phil is great at choosing and arranging material, Mary is a terrific percussionist and harmonist and me, well I'll sing with passion till the cows come home! Carole |
