Subject: RE: BS: New Blues Quiz From: Bobert Date: 16 Jun 02 - 08:35 PM Danged, Tweezer. I done took the test twice and ain't got a right answer yet. Just what ever happened to the law of averages? Oh yeah, Bush and Co. have stolen it too... |
Subject: RE: BS: New Blues Quiz From: Tweed Date: 16 Jun 02 - 10:48 PM Good job Greg, you oughta feel chuffed if you got four of 'em. (I looked it up...)chuffed Function: adjective Etymology: English dialect, chuff, pleased, puffed with fat.
And Boberdzrz, HARROOMPH I don't know what to say....Over a year at U.T.B. and not even one right, after two trys? You must be playing the blues more than reading about 'em these days. ;~) |
Subject: RE: BS: New Blues Quiz From: Bobert Date: 16 Jun 02 - 11:09 PM Sorry, Mr. Tweezer. Ya' know Iz studied hard an' I thought Iz did real good in Blues 001 (Bonehead Blues) but then Iz seez this EXAM comin' and all I can think of is those rather impolite medical procedures and... well.... like, Iz freezes. Plus, Iz thinks you all went a little overboard with the trick questions on this one since the law of averages even got faked out. Well, that's my story and excuse and rationalization all rolled up into one and Iz gonna stick by it sinz it took me this long to type it.... |
Subject: RE: BS: New Blues Quiz From: rangeroger Date: 17 Jun 02 - 12:32 AM 1 out of 5 rr |

Subject: RE: BS: New Blues Quiz From: Jeanie Date: 17 Jun 02 - 04:25 AM Well, I got 2 out of 5 purely by total random guesswork ! The message the website gave for people with that score was "Lay off the Sterno !" - jeanie |
Subject: RE: BS: New Blues Quiz From: DaveJ Date: 17 Jun 02 - 04:38 AM 1 out of 5...can't burn the sterno at "old songs" so I've got to do something with it. DaveJ |
Subject: RE: BS: New Blues Quiz From: GUEST,vectis at work Date: 17 Jun 02 - 06:39 AM 2 out of 5. Ouch!!! |
Subject: RE: BS: New Blues Quiz From: Lepus Rex Date: 17 Jun 02 - 07:03 AM 3 out of 5. I missed #'s 2 and 4. I didn't mind missing #2, but Gov. Jimmy Davis was a "distinguished blues singer?" Maybe we have different definitions of "distinguished blues singer," heh. ;) ---Lepus Rex |
Subject: RE: BS: New Blues Quiz From: Tweed Date: 17 Jun 02 - 07:09 AM Good for all of you. Even if you got a zero, everybody's scored big in raising your Blues awareness. Here's a link to the archives if any of you want to try your hand at some more. They're not real easy but when making them up I hunt bits of info that make me think "Hey, I never knew that before!"....And there's an endless lode of stuff that qualifies in that way for the blues quizes as there's a lot that I never knew about ;~) The stories behind the blues are as enjoyable as the music itself for me. |
Subject: RE: BS: New Blues Quiz From: DancingMom Date: 17 Jun 02 - 07:36 AM Yow! 2 out of 5. |
Subject: RE: BS: New Blues Quiz From: greg stephens Date: 17 Jun 02 - 07:48 AM It was the Governor that threw me. Maybe he was distinguished, and a blues-singer, so that makes the statement correct but ambiguous. Deliberately misleading by our quix-master...and why not?? Many thanks for the quizzes, anyway. |
Subject: RE: BS: New Blues Quiz From: Mark Clark Date: 17 Jun 02 - 08:52 AM Tweed, I enjoyed the quiz even though I flunked out at 20%. When I saw the answers, I was really kicking myself. I hope I redeemed myself by correctly identifying photo #97. Very nice site. Somehow I missed learning that the site was there. Now I've bookmarked it and will stop by regularly. - Mark |
Subject: RE: BS: New Blues Quiz From: GUEST,Tweed at work Date: 17 Jun 02 - 01:17 PM Stop in anytime and tell us story Mark. Sometimes the place sits dormant and other times I get a wild hair and add a load of new stuff to it, depending on the phase of the moon. It's only a halfway serious BluesSite, we like to have some fun over there as well as learn some new things along the way. If Boberdzrz takes that quiz again and still doesn't get one right we'll be putting him in the stocks and that's always fun to watch;~) |
