Hi all

Caversham Charity Folk Festival is taking place this coming weekend. It is a small festival with various events in marquees and local pubs. Camping is available.

There should be plenty of singarounds & sessions going on.

Anyone going? I'll be there with Mark & Hammerite.

Good luck with your festival. Even though our People's Voice Folk Festival in Beverley is the same weekend, I don't think that we are close enough to clash.

The more free festivals that there are the better.

OK, Got the dates straight. The festival is 21-23 JUNE, 2002 - or however it is you people write dates on that side of the pond.

Roger and I are hoping to make it to the Clifton Arms for a while during the afternoon. We enjoyed the session we went to last year. Sheila (non-skiffler)

Hope to make it across for the Sunday. Where's the best place for singarounds and unaccompanied stuff?

Gervase - there will be a "singaround" tent (with real ale bar I'm told) on the main site. I think that's running pretty much most of the time, with local folkies drafted in to run hourly slots. Don't know about any other venues - but I expect someone can inform you at the info tent.
There's more informal instrumental-type sessions in the main bar tent - but too noisy for singing.
There's usually a strand of bluesy-type sessions going on in one of the local pubs (The Crown, maybe).
I'm a mine of vague information aren't I?
Hope to see 'cats around - Mark, Hammerite & I will endeavour to wear our shared T-shirt (one at a time though).

Herself and I managed to find time in our busy schedule to get to the Clifton Arms for a couple of hours on Sunday,in time to hear King Street Smith and his Blues Buddies and have a chat with leader, Frank, (found out he's another Brummie in exile) and stayed for DPN +1 ( at one stage augmented by two extra harmonicas and a kazoo- not mine, I hasten to add).
Wish we could have stayed longer but maybe next year...
Off to Kalymnos mid-week, the goats are already buying earplugs.

We didn't get to the pubs or the concert tent - spent most of the time in the singaround tent or singing around our tent. Had a great time.
Saw one 'Cat of the Herga Kitty variety, but only briefly as she was just leaving & I was "Q fr the Loo"-ing. Nice to see you again Kitty - just cross I didn't get to hear you singing.....
Off to another charity folk fest at Long Wittenham Oxfordshire this weekend.
