Subject: Campbell the Bushwackin' Swaggie From: aussiebloke Date: 19 Jun 02 - 07:36 AM G'day all... This is to introduce Campbell the Swaggie - the last of the Australian Swaggies, who wandered up to the tropics for the 32nd Top Half Folk Festival. He's here for a couple or three weeks raising money for his own initiative - 'The Swagmans Walk', raising money for the Starlight Foundation and the Fred Hollows Foundation, by walking from Aramac to Longreach via Muttaburra - 126 miles! He'll be camping here at my place in Darwin for another two or three weeks before wandering off to the Camooweal Drover's Reunion and the Cairns Show. Anybody wants to drop him a note to say G'day can do so right here, or I'll pass along any e-mails send via aussiebloke@hotmail.com.Cheers aussiebloke

Subject: RE: BS: Campbell the Bushwackin' Swaggie From: aussiebloke Date: 07 Aug 02 - 06:22 AM Campbell gives me a ring from time to time, when he gets into a town and can get to a phone. He just called from Mitchell Qld - about to embark on the last leg of 'The Swagmans Walk', Mitchell to Roma - a distance of some 90 kilometres. He is intersecting with the Harry Redford Cattle Drive along the way, and there will be a Big Blow Out at Roma - more info here: http://www.drovingaustralia.com/ ABC Radio have been taking an interest: "The small western Queensland town of Aramac saw its population explode from 300 to more than 3000 over the weekend, as people poured in for the launch of the Harry Redford Cattle Drive." The busking must be good - he reckons he made his targets, and was able to give a donation to The Fred Hollows Foundation, and The Starlight Foundation, and tonight, he is sleeping rough somewhere... Good on you Campbell aussiebloke
