Another fragment from my futile little brain - Take me there, take me there, I don't care where we go, Take me there take me there (something or O), take me there take me there I don't care where we go, Take me there take me I just want to know...

No clue as to artist, time-frame, other than it's a male vocalist and the memory feels like possibly early 70's... searched the Trad first, no go. Anybody?

(I am reminded of that James Thurber short story - This is all I have. Take this and do not use your chloroform as this is all I have...

I think that you are probably referring to a song I haven't heard, but just in case you mean this one ...

This song was used in a TV commercial for Narragansett Beer (which is no longer made, unfortunately.)

No matter where I'm going
And no matter where I've been
There still are things that talk to me of home.
Green fields from a train
Take me there.
Seacoasts in the rain
Take me there
Take me there.
I can see the sun come shining
Over Narragansett Bay
So fill the cup, and talk to me of home
Of home.

Quite a lovely song, actually, and a lovely commercial, even if they did show a picture of a glass of beer at the end of it.

Jacob

Yes, Mrrzy, it's Seals and Crofts. Trying to think of the title... "I used to look out from my window..." "My mother used to be much younger; she'd sing me soft, sweet lullabies..." etc. Cheers, Margaret

Your hint did it, Margaret. I did a Google search for "take me there" seals crofts, and it came right up at this site (click). It's called ADVANCE GUARDS (lyrics by James Seals; music by James Seals & Dash Crofts, 1971). Now we know.

Ah, resoultion feels good, doesn't it? I'm just worried about my brain... That's a song I used to sing all the way through, but I couldn't even remember the name of it! Oh well, that's what Mudcat is for!

I've looked at the words and can't for the life of me remember the tune of anything except the chorus...!

Mrrzy, go to Amazon.com and look up the Summer Breeze album. There's a snippet of "Advance Guards" that you can listen to, and it includes the verse, not just the chorus. Margaret

Great advice, Margaret! I was about to call somebody old and ask if they could sing it...

Hmm - it won't let me. I downloaded the latest version of Windows Media Player, and I get a "format not supported" message... any ideas?
