Subject: Mystic 2002 - Photos From: Ferrara Date: 20 Jun 02 - 06:05 PM PHOTOS FROM MYSTIC SEA MUSIC FESTIVAL Bill D took most of these but a few were sent by Dave Diamond. They have been reduced for quick loading, but if anyone wants to see them full sized or to see more of our Mystic pics, just PM Bill or me. I guess I should have paid more attention to the html practice threads, but here goes: Karen K, Rita Ferrara, Barry Finn Ian Robb, Warp 4, in Greencastle Church

Subject: RE: Mystic 2002 - Photos From: p.j. Date: 20 Jun 02 - 08:54 PM Hi gang-- Chanteyranger and I sat at the San Francisco Folk Festival last Saturday and looked at his pictures of you all from Mystic-- I wish I could have been there. Hello Ferrara, Hello Bill D, Hello Barry and Windlass1 and Ken and all my dear NorEasterners-- I miss you and hope to see you one of these days... lots of love, pj |
Subject: RE: Mystic 2002 - Photos From: Bill D Date: 20 Jun 02 - 09:07 PM no, the Patons did not make it....did not hear whether that was usual or not.. (hello, P.J....hope to see you, too, one day again) |
Subject: RE: Mystic 2002 - Photos From: karen k Date: 21 Jun 02 - 02:44 PM No, Mystic is not a festival Patons go to although Sandy wanted to go this year so he could meet up with Abby Sale. I, myself, was hoping to meet up with chanteyranger so I could thank him in person for the David Lovine tape he sent me almost 2 years ago. Thanks again, chanteyranger. |
Subject: RE: Mystic 2002 - Photos From: Barry Finn Date: 21 Jun 02 - 08:44 PM Rita, (or was that Bill), nice work on the photo's. So glad that you could both make it. I'm hoping that, that was enough to get you to keep coming up for it (if it isn't, we'll just have to fix that. Hope to see you both in October. Hey p.j. where you been so long, maybe you swans will get a head start flying out in Oct too. Sure be good to see you guys (is chanteyranger holding back on some photo's?). No, no. Barry |
Subject: RE: Mystic 2002 - Photos From: Nancy King Date: 21 Jun 02 - 08:50 PM Great pix, Rita and Bill! Makes me wish even more that I'd been able to make the scene this year. Well, maybe next time. I especially like the picture of Dave Diamond, one of my favorite folks. And Rita, looks like you managed to have a good time! Cheers, Nancy |
Subject: RE: Mystic 2002 - Photos From: Ferrara Date: 21 Jun 02 - 09:25 PM They are great pics, aren't they? Dave Diamond took the ones of me, Karen K and Barry Finn, and Bill took all the others, so I only get credit for spending time making smaller versions and setting it all up on the web.... Jeff (Pene Azul) has put them up on the Mudcat photos site, I'm going to send him some more. Will post once they are up. |
Subject: RE: Mystic 2002 - Photos From: Big Mick Date: 21 Jun 02 - 11:24 PM Rita, Barry and my beloved Karen K all in one picture! I don't think I could ask for a better gift than a picture of three of my favorite folks. Thanks for posting these. I am smiling as I type. Can't wait to see you all at The Getaway. Mick |
Subject: RE: Mystic 2002 - Photos From: Peter Kasin Date: 22 Jun 02 - 01:26 AM Nice phtos! Since I've been back home, I've been finding out that there were more Mudcatters there than I thought. It would have been a huge group photo if we had done the near-impossible: been in one place at the same time. Maybe next time we can post on a pre-fest thread a time, maybe a little after 5:00pm, when the concerts/workshops are over and before dinner, and a place to all apear at for a group photo. Karenk, you were at Mystic??? I "myssed" too many people! chanteyranger Barry - I've got a photo of you surrouned by some Johnson Girls. You get all the chicks. |
Subject: RE: Mystic 2002 - Photos From: Peter Kasin Date: 22 Jun 02 - 01:33 AM Forgot something in the last post. I want to sing the praises of someone who is in the photo taken in the Greenmanville church that includes" Warp 4." The performer at the far right is Bonnie Dixon, who is a wonderful singer of Scottish gaelic songs. A lovely, soulful voice! |
Subject: RE: Mystic 2002 - Photos From: Ferrara Date: 22 Jun 02 - 02:43 PM Thanks, chanteyranger, for supplying Bonnie Dixon's name! I loved Bonnie's voice, but was having a senior moment when I labeled the picture. I remembered her first name but not her last name, and couldn't remember even where I left the program so I could go look up her name. Then, in another senior moment (I have LOTS of them, she said smugly), I posted the pic without it. I heard her in the Saturday Women and the Sea workshop as well as the Immigration session where the photo was taken, and enjoyed every song she did. Didn't get to hear her do any Gaelic songs though. That Immigration session was terrific. Pat Sheridan of Warp 4 did a knockout version of The Rocky Road to Dublin, among other thngs. Well, I have to confess, every session I attended was terrific. Drat it all, I was so exhausted Saturday after dinner that I slept straight through from about 8pm until next morning -- missed the wonderful concert that other folks have been raving about, missed the late-night singing too. On the positive side, I got home in pretty good shape, mostly because I DID get that good night's sleep.... Mick, glad you stopped in to take a look at this thread. One reason I worked hard to get to Mystic, is that there are so many Mudcat friends that we only get to see once a year at the Getaway and I knew at least some of those people would make it to Mystic. Karen K was a nice surprise. She said she Tried to talk Sandy and Caroline into driving down but it didn't work out. And it was wonderful to have Margaret MacArthur there, she had just gotten her lifetime achievement award from the Vermont Arts Council on Friday night and was beaming. She said she knew that four of her neighbors planned to go to the award presentation, but had no idea that they had rounded up about 30 people to be there cheering when she got her award. Makes me grin to think about it. BTW I just sent a bunch more pics to Pene Azul to post, including a nice one Dave Diamond took of Barry Finn, Dave himself and Bob Walser. Rita |
Subject: RE: Mystic 2002 - Photos From: Ferrara Date: 22 Jun 02 - 03:18 PM Jeff just put more of our pics on the Mudcat photo site. If you haven't found it yet, select "Member Photos and Info" under Mudcat links, hit GO, then select Photos, then select Events. Mystic 2002 is the first event. It's in five pages. Parts 4 and 5 have the new pics. |
Subject: RE: Mystic 2002 - Photos From: GUEST,chanteyranger Date: 22 Jun 02 - 04:53 PM ...and I missed her songs in English! The only workshop I got to where she was singing was "worksongs." She sang examples of rowing and waulking songs. |
Subject: RE: Mystic 2002 - Photos From: Barry Finn Date: 22 Jun 02 - 11:27 PM Hi Chanteyranger, you probably took that shot while the Johnson Girls were taking pity on me. They're very nice to stray cats that meow all night long. It was nice to see & hear you again, you sounded great at the Sat night sing. Barry |
