Robert

Is this what you want?

The tune may be "Over The Hills and Far Away" but the words are nothing like.

Cheers!
Ian

I have the GAelic song, Fionghuala. However, it might be a different song for the Over the Hills and Far Away. At Lesley Nelson's Contemplator site, we find TWO versions of that song. As well, the Digital Tradition here, has FOUR versions that a quick search turned up. You might look in the SuperSearch and see if there are any Forum discussions on this song title.

Thanks for posting all those links, George Seto!

Seems to me that version "3" (from Pills To Purge Melencholy)is actually the oldest.

I've also seen a "Mother Goose" Rhyme which seems related to this version (another one about Tom, Tom the Piper's Son, which makes sense). The particular volume with that rhyme in it is out of reach at the moment, but I try to will find it and post it later.

Looks like I was in too much of a hurry with the Contemplator Site ones. Plus I found a couple of other interesting sites.

Over the Hills and Far Away #1 Contemplator Site
Over the Hills and Far Away Sharpe(who's he?) Anthem to the 95th Rifles
Over the Hills and Far Away Hobbit / Tolkein Poem Connection
