Well I ask myself, I say , ask myself, if a ffesstival is complete without Tootsies in Gobs (punk version!). They are willing, padded for travel,trump-fearing spitoon jugglers of the first order and thrive, I say, thrive,on clap (ping!). But, not every ffesstival can affford such a stonkin' act. Or can they????????????

Just realised - I am down in the big Metrolops all week and cannot refresh or add to this thread. Unless the kind people where I am working give me access to their machines. Mmmm. Unlikely but you never know.

Anyhow - if anyone involved would like to refresh or whatever - please feel free:-)

I cannot mention who I am working for but they are a bunch of bankers belonging to some place that, according to Sinatra, they had to name twice.

Anyone down in Londons Docklands want to take pity on a poor lonely Northern Git and ring me on 07771 957616? I am stopping near Canary Wharf and will travel to most places - tube strikes permitting!

Cheers

For further information, albeit mainly a repeat of what I posted earlier, Go here and see what a good job our friends at Salford council have done for us. You will need to click on Music, Dance and Drama and then page down.

Couple of interesting concerts on at the Lowry, including the Incredible String Band on Sunday the 27th and Mary Black on Wednesday the 30th!

Things are indeed looking up!

Hi Joan.
There is a regular service from Wigan to Eccles (33) that gets fairly close to Swinton (Monton Green).
And at weekends there is also a night service back to Wigan from Manchester, which should get somewhere near.
All the best PP.

Thanks, PP. The 33 did seem the bus-most-likely. I was unaware that the night service extended as far as Wigan - I shall investigate further. Thanks again.

Sorry, I can't be there: I'm playing silly buggers up in the Cheviot that weekend, running up and down hills with my tent on my back taking part in the Karrimor.....although I gather that more than one or two singers are taking part so there may be a bit of action on the Saturday night (if I can find the overnight campsite!).

Yes great news .It has been confirmed that super stars Anne TAGGART and Angie WRIGHT will be doing a bit at Swinton. The glam folk stars will be there on Saturday afternoon adding their tremendous voices to the gathered throng. They may be approached for autograph , but please form an orderly queue as their Roadie is a World Championion Powerlifter. With a bit of luck you might hear the classic "Cheshire Set" which will be on the next TAGGART AND WRIGHT CD titled "Big in Birkenhead" which is out sometime in 2003.

And more good news - for train users at least. I was told last night that the strike has been "suspended" - so the trains will be running this weekend after all. It may not be a full service, so check what times are running, but it's definitely an improvement on 3/4 changes on the buses. See you Saturday!

Weather is mixed but seems to be looking up. Good news about the trains. Had loads of people asking if they can buy ceilidh tickets at the door so things are looking very promising.

Keeping our fingers crossed:-)

I didn't catch any of the concert, spent all afternoon and evening in the singaround. It was at times a bit chaotic when no one in particular was running it, but was all very enjoyable with some great singers and musicians. Well done! I won't make it to the survivors' session today, but I'll look forward to another great festival next year, and hope to get to some club nights as well.

Great day - Many thanks to Dave the Gnome and all who helped.

The mixture of singarounds and concerts in one pub worked beautifully.
Roy Bailey gave a spectacular performance -first time I have seen him.The second time hearing the Threllfalls sing in less than one week just showed how great they are.

All in all a very stimulating and enjoyable Festival.

I think that there is a date for 2003.
