Subject: Making the most of the Shatner vibe From: GUEST,JohnnieBGoode Date: 12 Jul 02 - 04:27 AM This is not a joke. Tomorrow I'll be recording in a studio in which Shatner occasionally does some narration work. During my tour of the studio, I was shown where he stands etc. I never thought I'd be chiming in with a such a thread, but now I have a legimate Shatner concern! How do I maximize the Shatner energy while recording? I mean, should I try and forget about him and do my thing, ask to use the same microphone, or what? Overall I think it's a good thing. Any advice? Anyone else have a brush with Shatner? |

Subject: RE: Help: Making the most of the Shatner vibe From: catspaw49 Date: 12 Jul 02 - 07:47 AM Be very careful......If you stand in the exact spot, it's likely you'll become bloated and bald, lose all sense of tune and key, be overwhelmed by a desire to look into a mirror, your nuts will dessicate into tiny raisin-like things, and your dick will shrink up like a half-eaten cocktail wienie.......plus, you'll shit your pants. I advise against it. Spaw |

Do not in any way emulate his singing. Catspaw49. You could only know such detail from personal experience. My sympathies to you, and your wife. ;) |

Subject: RE: Help: Making the most of the Shatner vibe From: Little Hawk Date: 12 Jul 02 - 12:21 PM Yes, Jack, that's why Spaw is so resentful of Shatner...it's a sad case. True greatness always arouses envy in the disadvantaged... GUEST, Johnny - You are onto a VERY good thing, my man! Make the most of it. Preserve a respectful silence as you enter the room. Tread carefully on the ground where Shatner has stood. Take a long, slow breath...and look around carefully. Try to imagine how it would feel to BE Bill Shatner. DEFINITELY ask to use the same microphone. This could have profound effects on your emoting and be a big plus to your future career. You are sooooo lucky! - LH |
Subject: RE: Help: Making the most of the Shatner vibe From: GUEST,JohnnieBGoode Date: 12 Jul 02 - 05:26 PM Great advice, LH. The smell of some exotic cologne lingers in the studio...I imagine this may be from William. |

Subject: RE: Help: Making the most of the Shatner vibe From: Jack the Sailor Date: 12 Jul 02 - 11:24 PM Try to imagine how it would feel to BE Bill Shatner. Hawk, I just tried that, Now my hair is falling out and My hands move uncontrolably and apparantly randomly when I talk. The smell of some exotic cologne lingers in the studio I don't know about that, I believe you'll find it is just a combination of "Old Spice" and "Lemon Gin" |
Subject: RE: Help: Making the most of the Shatner vibe From: Little Hawk Date: 12 Jul 02 - 11:39 PM Yeah, the hair thing can be a drawback. That's why I spend more time imagining myself as Bob Dylan...minus the cigarettes. - LH |
Subject: RE: Help: Making the most of the Shatner vibe From: GUEST,JohnnieBGoode Date: 13 Jul 02 - 01:08 AM It's funny--even though I forgot all about him during the session tonight I was still driven by some unknown force and recorded about 12 things. I was the guest who originally posted "Tired of Shatner". Humbled, JohnnieBGoode |
